Both GWS and the Suns are here for the long term. I believe the AFL will persevere with them for many years to come.
Gold Coast need to be able to retain players, get a couple of marquee players and keep developing their local and academy players.
There was, and is, a reasonably strong local league there and they need to build on that.
Importantly the other AFL clubs need to stop pilfering the Gold Coast players and stop making it so difficult for them to retain and recruit their own academy players.
A bit of success and the people will come.
I have a lot more faith that they will last longer than Titans.
GWS will take much longer time to establish, success on the ground has not led to a great following.
Aussie Rules is a stranger in a strange land, it will take a generation for that to change but apparently junior participation is increasing so the change may be on its way, and that is where their future lies, converting and or educating the young. A grand final appearance won’t hurt.
A Tasmanian side will be in sooner or later but not at the expense of any existing AFL club, the part time clubs are losing their luster over there.
It is unlikely that the AFL would prefer an odd numbered competition for long, so who else?
However I could be wrong, I once made a bet that it would take Super League and the ARL 10 years to get back together, and when that did occur they would never get rid of Perth or Adelaide.
Worked out well for me.

Agree with what you say.
Gold Coast has a very strong grass roots here. Both junior and senior levels. I think they need to make contracts for drafted players 5 years instead of two. Problem is players are coming here, getting their feet, then leaving. Jack Martin is the next to go. But he has been there a while coming as 16 year old I think or there about. Retention of players is the issue with other clubs throwing small fortunes. Plus you would get sick of losing I guess. One benefit, maybe, is that those people still supporting are not going anywhere now... they would have gone previously. So there has been built up a good core of supporters that are there through rain and shine. Winning now will bring in fair weather supporters but to have a good base is one tiny and maybe exaggerated plus.

AngloFL should've built a war chest. Instead its pissed the proceeds of broadcast rights boom against the wall with failed expansion. Without foxtel these teams won't exist.

They do thickshit and have more streams of revenue than just a broadcast deal!
Btw how’s the nrlol war chest going
Flat broke 8 or so years ago and was same cast pre last broadcast deal
Went for two bank loans to pay its bills and got rejected twice!
This was back in the day of a few years ago when nearly everyone was getting approved for loans

30 million down the drain on gentle gws just this past year. A decade on still no TV audience & fudging crowd numbers. Established teams denied success by draft concessions. This is a disaster however you spin it.

Have the number of grassroots clubs grown? I believe that was just 1 KPI.
30 million in one year - not that I don't believe you but where is that figure from?

If Foxtel are not partners in the next television rights deal, which unless they fall over, they will be, a replacement will not be far away.
Despite others opinion, I expect the $ amount will only increase, and substantially.

23.5 from AngloFL reported
2.5 from AngloFL hidden

2+ AngloFL paying for stadium naming rights

having lived on the Gold Coast now for the past 2 months full time.
I do notice a difference in regards to sydney..
there are more AFL clubs here and the occasion ground you see..
but to me.. it still feels like a very solid Rugby league area.
they are crying out for a successful Gold Coast Titans team that is for sure..

The same can be said with the titans both teams were established a few years with in each other so many people will have pre existing teams that they would have already followed!
Up in North Queensland is the same plenty of people wearing Melbourne and Sydney based teams from AFL and nrlll merchandise
