Ten would be a good choice - they did a good job when they had the footy (AFL).
100%

they have shown they can do a great job>>

AFL and BBL were fantastic

My only worry is the Unreliable Paramount Streaming Service >> but if this was upgraded and fixed.

i think alot of people would be HAPPY!

the last time CH10 made a bid for NRL they were outbid by around 100million by channel 9 and FOX in 2015
who had first and last rights agreement.

Massive news coming out for the Tv rights fight out for the NRL

These are the leaked figures that have set-up the NRL for a record TV rights deal
The broadcast deal will be done in the next two to three months,” V’landys said.
Exclusive data obtained by this masthead shows a record 25 million viewers have watched the opening month of the 2026 premiership

five offers from the networks - Channel Nine, Channel Seven, Amazon, Paramount and DAZN-owned Fox Sports

ARLC could secure north of $4 billion over five years as V’landys lauded the latest figures which reaffirm his view that rugby league has emphatically dethroned the AFL as Australia’s most-watched sport.
The NRL recorded total viewership of 224 million across Australia and New Zealand last year and V’landys believes the code will smash the 300 million mark by 2028 when the competition expands to 19 teams

Incredibly, compared to the corresponding period of the 2019 season, Fox League’s viewership is up a staggering 86 per cent.

Since 2019, viewership in Australia and New Zealand has increased by a remarkable 90 million viewers, fuelling a push for a second NRL team across the ditch as part of a 20-team league.

be very interesting what they can squeeze out of FTA partner, with revenue and Advertising down year on year over the pass 3 years.
with the upside of BVOD getting bigger and popular for FREE ON DEMAND>

the streaming partner this is where the NRL will see a HUGE LIFT in $$$$

with NRL pretty much claiming every record on FTA and Streaming and BVOD over the pass 2 years.

Its gonna be interesting but its not a great time to go to market. The economy is going down the gurgler. Advertising revenue is down. The govt has just bought in sports betting regulations. There are a lot of excuses for the broadcasters to lowball PVL.

On the upside the game has never been stronger with record ratings, crowds and interest. The key is going to be competition. If there are a number of fair dinkum bidders PVL will get close to the $4B he wants. If not he will get an uplift but it won't reach that level.

Interesting times.

Nearly three years after Australia’s landmark parliamentary inquiry into online gambling and its harms, the Federal Government’s long-awaited gambling advertising reforms have been announced. And in several ways they go both further and in others not far enough for the commentators. Yet even as industry, consumer bodies, rival politicians and media pick over the proposed changes, Free TV is urging Government to ensure Australian broadcasters and their local content contribution are protected as hundreds of millions of dollars in annual advertising dollars dry up.

difference between McLachlan who went about the deal silently and Temu Peter who feel the need to gloat and seek attention for slick bate, one got the contract signed well before and other trying to negotiate a deal during and post restrictions come in

 legit right, it is a horrible time >> this is NRL in a nutshell
I think the NRL and the Networks will know the deal does not commence 20 months from now though...

Betting money will still be 3 adverts an hour..
Which with the NRL unlike the AFL do not really have many adverts..
with Streaming the big players overall..

advertising revenue is down. though Digital media is getting bigger for the FTA networks.

very interesting though...

Are there adverts in game - like a banner on bottom of screen or promotion by commentators? I know you get this on TV with AFL re: banners. There is also a lot of gambling adds and promos on the associated sports show - citing odds etc. AFL even have a whole show that is based on gambling - they make it to be a sports show - but it is clear its purpose is about promoting betting. I assume NRL have similar. This is where it may hit both codes and tv stations.

very little adverts in the game, looking at approx 4 to 5 adverts per half
sometimes they will do a banner occasionally hear & there advertsing a particular product or show.

what the NRL do though is have digital advertising on the field during games.
this was brought in a number of years ago to try and get advertising into the game that is very limited.

Gambling in Australia is around 150mill to all networks and sports per year.
with the baulk going towards NRL AND AFL
CRICKET and Horse racing ..

so if we have to do a ruff estimation NRL need to make up around $40 TO $50mill per year in advertising by someone else.

NRL do have a show similar talk sports and betting>
