Friday night is the only AFL game per round which is shown nationally on FTA, where as every NRL FTA game is shown nationally. Therefore, the logical comparison of FTA games is Friday night.
Its like me claiming the AFL dominates Saturday night's TV ratings when the AFL have FTA games while the NRL is on fox only. You'd complain no doubt, which would be fair enough, as its a poor comparison. However by your complaint would all be spin and lies.
Lets Just say, A Broncos vs Melbourne on Thursday night. LIVE ON FTA
live in QLD live into Victoria.
and the rest of the country got to see it on FOX
it would still be a big figure, not as big as across the country figure on FTA but still big
AFL do it all the time, crows on FTA into Adelaide
West Coast on FTA into Perth..
and the people in other states can watch it on FOX if they have it.
and at the same time there got a Richmond v Swans game for the Eastern markets on FTA
and also on FOX
see there is good and bad in this.
If the NRL showed a game on FTA to QLD and VIc theyd get 450k max, including regionals.
The way the AFL schedule Saturday and Sunday sometimes benefits ratings, and sometimes it reduces it. It happened a few weeks ago when melbourne got Carlton v nobody, while Adelade played Sydney. The fox ratings for the Ad v Syd game were 3 times the Carlton game showing the majority of Australia preferred this game. The ratings would have been far better if the Ad v Syd game was shown nationally
Ok lets just say the Broncos game got 450k on FTA (now include Fox into NSW and rest of country.
the figure has just jumped massively
see this is where it advantages the AFL
ok SA and NSW got crows v swans..
Melbourne got its Melbourne game..
Well if they did not want to watch it, all they have to do is flick it over to FOX
and they can watch the other game.
as simple as that,
if the NRL did what the AFL does
our ratings would be even bigger.
