1st WB, St.Kilda and Port aren't replacing half their list Essendon is.
2nd WB, St.Kilda and Port knew what was coming a case of buyer be wear,
3rd the top up players are either at the end of their careers or haven't played AFL - as a one off its the right thing - if they had allowed it then Collingwood and St.Kilda would be able to claim top up's in the cases of Amet Said etc etc which they couldn't set that precedent. I haven't said its a good situation or acceptable but it seems the only one. I don't think everything the AFL does is right - my club in particular was hit with trade sanctions when only following the AFL rules but that doesn't mean it is corrupt or what you insinuating just like I don't hate everything about RL. But your hatred for a sport obviously colours your opinion to such an extent you can't be objective. Simple as that really!

The AFL own the club, they aren't privately owned, as I said every official involved has been sacked, record fine, disqualified from finals, players suspended for 12 months, draft sanctions and they get to play the season copping record hidings, all in all the punishments will see them out of finals for the next 5 years minimum IMO.

Hardly "rewarded"

As for the other affected clubs, WTF would they want top up players for? The drafts are complete! All's that's left are players not deemed good enough to hold a rookie spot.

It's the Essendon players who appealed dipshit not the club - it's THEIR right to choose that option and WADA has the choice to appeal any decision of a tribunal of a sporting body. They appealed Ahmets Saids penalty for being too lenient after having an energy drink and he got a full 12 months off with an early plea. Cronulla players were engaged in a full on systematic use and trafficking of horse steroids and they get to serve their penalty in the off season and NO WADA appeal - Yet we know John Fahey ex Bulldogs players and coach and head of WADA does not appeal. John Fahey steps down from WADA after choosing not to appeal RL sentence.
