Whilst I’m not a big fan of Eddie, he does have a strategic mind and some interesting ideas about growing our great game.
How about the always financially struggling North Melbourne relocated, to become the Northern Kangaroos, playing in the Northern Territory and North Queensland?

That's about the extent of AFL expansion - the isolated desert state of NT. In other words - they've got nothing. No AFL team will ever be based fulltime in the NT. It ain't EVER gonna happen.
The fumbling game's extortion effort of the Tasmanian government has come back to bite it also. They'll be flat out getting tiny Tassie on board. Not that they'd bring anything to the game anyway.
Along with that, despite what our dear friend Sooksie thinks, both the Suns and GWS exist entirely at the whim of fumble house. They are financial black holes. Without AFL money they'd be dead and buried.
In short: the fumbling game has maxxed out it's 'expansion' possibilities. It ain't goin' nowhere. It's confined to the suburbs of Melbon and the desert states. It's cooked.

I think there is some merit to this - I do think, however that Canberra as well as Newcastle - Canberra as it is already a strong Aussie Rules base and crying out for their own team - and Newcastle because it is a large regional area where Rugby League is the dominant game - with a small Aussie Rules history to the area (Black Dimond cup etc.) and good grassroots there.

Freddy, there will never ever be a team in Darwin or Newcastle. And the only chance Canberra has is if the Big Dill moves GWS there lock stock and barrel. And they'd still be solely reliant on fumblehouse for their existence.
The AFL is maxxed out pal. No further fulltime 'expansion' will ever happen. And the formerly locked in Tassie are even in doubt. They're done Fred. It's over.

if you follow your your the Australian government policies they love migration to prop up this ponzi scheme economy. they want a 35 million by 2050 meaning cities like Darwin will grow along with rest of the country. to plant a team there and let it become part of the city as the city grows is a long term vision from the AFL, unlike PVL just relocating some unwanted near defunct team from NSW to WA and say you can have them and pay for them
to say AFL is maxed out is one of fear and that NRL bubble that you lot live in. the Swans and Lions have grown nicely in there respective cities and states producing players at grass roots enough to field a state team of current listed players! GCS are on par with the Titans in what is apparent NRL strong land and GWS are a joke but finding there spot
the storm are irrelevant in Melbourne, along with them and the whole of NRL have produced 5 players from Victoria to play NRL n 30 plus years of storm and NRL
no code is maxed out, only AFL is making far better growth than the NRL

AFL "expansion" is a myth. It's done. It's over. There is nowhere else to go. The fact Wackjob thinks otherwise proves the point. Nothing sane or sensible ever comes from a Wackjob.

I like Eddie, (if i were the AFL i would have him as CEO )
the idea of North Playing in NT and Cairns is a great idea.
playing in Bunbury for and perth for a few games when they could be heading to the Northern Part of Australia
is much Beneficial (especially if funds were tipped in)

The problem is Australia is being propped up by people who are very foreign to Australian Sports
Middle Eastern Asia, Africa.
AFL is tapped out of the big markets for expansion... true Lions and Swans are growing..
But markets for expansion >> are all small markets in terms of every factor.

Agree to a point - I could see another tea min south West region of brisbane - Ipswich area. Canberra is obvious. Newcastle is one I think that goes unnoticed - and untapped. Sydney could one day have another team - if they ever sort out the giants fiasco - but a long long way off. And of course Adelaide would love another team. But after that, I think it is tapped out - the idea of a northern team I do like as put by Eddie - although I would not like a "regional Northern or Top End team. Can't see Darwin having a permenant team located there.

all areas are possible of course..
but im talking Expansion as in the next 10 years..
not 30 to 50 years lol
Heck NRL might be banned in 200 years in Sydney
and it becomes AFL central

The AFL won't have another 'expansion' team after Tassie (if that even goes ahead) for 30 years+ if ever. Fullstop.

The NSW and Qld markets are far bigger than a SA and WA market so far more room of growth for the AFL
WA have been a grave yard for teams outside of the AFL And NBL
Any major sport in most countries will have interest from overseas media outlets, cricket is the most second most viewed sport in the world behind the soccer, but I doubt the Chinese, Indonesians or USA have any interest in it, yet I can easy watch it in Chile or home land of Europe
