im pretty Confident DAZN will get the Rights (they would be stupid not too)
they are going to have to pay over the moon for them. (which is going to have a knock on effect on customers)
As the AFL rights Kicked in this Season (fox raised its prices a fair bit)
I think that will be the case too .. & balance will be restored to the universe with the nations most watched sport having the largest media rights deal as it should
DAZN to pay 400 million ... that will be for 9 NRL games ( 6 exclusive )
& all reps except origin
FTA to be 200 million thats to 3 games a week , & all reps .... origin exclusive ( whether thats 9 having the lot, or 9 having the NRL & 7 the reps)
NZ 50 million for it all
NRL broadcast rights will increase but by how much is the question ?
What is without question is that NRL rights will be once again be runner up to the much more lucrative AFL rights.
NRL is the poor kid who despite running his heart out always comes second.
NRLW extra value irrelevant.
The broadcasters know that NRL doesn't have the national marketing presence nation wide as Australia's favourite sport does.
It's still a two state competition nothing more and will never be much more.
AFL rights will once again trounce NRL rights and by a massive margin.
How much is the question.. yes how much ?
Interesting you say Trounce the NRL rights by a massive margin... I dont want to put all my eggs in one basket
but i really recan you wrong on that summary..
all things are pointing towards NRL getting either very close to the AFL (which could be 20 to 50 million per Annum
or exceeding the AFL per Annum by around that amount.
am i confident NRL will get a really good tv deal >>> YES

COVID HIT
The disaster that it brought, PVL AND NRL had no idea what was next>> FOX wanted content locked in
AND TO BE SAFE THAN SORRY>>> NRL LOCKED IN A DEAL to SAVE THE GAME >>>
at the SAME TIME AFL was experiencing HELL if they did not get the game back on etc etc etc ..
at that time locking it in (Was a smart Move) In hindsight it turned out to be a disaster >>
and things become alot better>> and AFL discussed a DEAL at way better times...
add In Huge tention from Channel 10
AND BANG!! it all fell into place.

Firstly - what’s it matter ?
Secondly - can you really compare deals made at different times/years. As pointed out - maybe the nrl were vulnerable last time around- due to circumstances of the time. Both getting plenty of money. _
AFL I read here once get nearly as much from gate revenues as from tv deals per year ?
And what about sponsorship ? I’d love to know what the AFL commands for their top level sponsor compared to nrl - but then again, I could equally say “what’s it matter?”.

does not matter at all.. I was simply stating something That could occur in the future,
and with someone so confident that NRL will not equal AFL or Beat it.
no Freddy AFL makes heaps more from TV than Gate revenue lol

Gap is widening now, but before this year it would have been a lot closer than people think. The league doesnt break down its gate (half a million attendance at finals) and revenue from 65,000 of its own members. Nor do we see corporate box revenues.
we know that clubs make almost as much from match returns as they do from the AFL distribution though.

Fred stated the AFL not actual clubs..
and yes AFL distribution for most clubs is quite low outside a few that drain it..
its like over 2 million a game made from tv Rights if you slice it all up...
i doubt clubs go close to that in Profit making per game..
I wonder how much Collingwood make for a 80k crowd ?? any idea

i couldnt give a shit really, its amusing to respond to morons like azif and co as they seem to struggle with reality.
FTA is dead and foxtel is dying a slow death, so the new deal will be different to like we have seen before and new players will be in the mix. you wonder how many more deals Rupert has in him and how badly his successor will bid
