Its utterly irrelevant. More teams turned up. Period. and the fact that Australia wasnt one of them makes that figure even more impressive.

I mean sure, we could make it like the RLWC where the Australian team goes out and flogs minnow nations by record margins, but the AFL has decided thats not a great look for some reason.
So when. Do these women in the AFL get to represent their country .

What good is a international comp when Aust players can't play.

This is a massive investment for the NRL.
It's going to take a stack of effort and loads of money for a prolonged period if it's to succeed.
The reward for effort will be worth its weight in gold in the end. Just ask the AFL.

But stacks of effort and loads of money aren't generally associated with anything the NRL do. IMO
I hope they change their way for this one.
The women deserve it!

Don't think so
it says
The NRL predicts it is just "three to four years" away from unveiling a fully professional, elite women's competition capable of challenging the AFLW
So 3-4 years before it can challenge what the AFLW has got

In 3-4 years they'll have what the AFLW have right now. That's how I read it.

In 3-4 years the AFLW will have at least 16 teams (possibly more) all directly affiliated the their name sake clubs. With some clubs building new AFLW training facilities.

Look at the Bombers. No licence yet but pushing ahead with the $18,000,000 expansion out there.
That's commitment!

It's only irrelevant to you my friend because of your rampant AFL bias. It IS relevant to objective, intelligent commentators however because it shows the standard, or in this case the lack thereof, of the supposed 'international' game in fumbleball.

Let's face it - the AFL 'international' ladies games were an abomination that could only very loosely be called 'sport'. That's why no Australian side played. The ladies RLWC on the other hand had some very skilled female athletes playing some great games with a few blowouts - similar to this years fumbling mens finals series.

The tournament ended with a rip roaring final game between the Australian & NZ ladies that put to shame any game played in AFLW mess this year. The chasm between the athletic standard of the respective ladies is bigger than the grand canyon.

I truly hope the fumbling girls can lift their standard next year Wookster .........God knows they are coming from a very low base!!!!

The NRL wants it to be competitive so they will not explode with expansion.
they will start small and grow the pie..

I would like to see what the AFL did and shorten the game>

I think 60mins would suit the women more than 80mins they have been playing.

You could be onto something Leeroy. At their current standard of play I would say the female fumblers should shorten it to 20 minutes lololololololololololololol.

the standard of play in the WAFL was very poor>> a lot of AFL punters would agree to this>>

Must be nice to only have to compare the best 15 or so women in the country at one sport with an entire 8 team competition. I wonder how theyd stack up against the best 15 AFLW players.
That's a good question Wookster. In my opinion the AFLW women have been surprisingly lacking in athletic skill and ability. Their best 15 would be a long way behind the best 15 female RL players for sure. The higher standard of interstate and international competition takes the RL girls to a much higher level than the poor 'ol hapless fumbling ladies.
