A hundred plus years of history in the AFL and been around in Brisbane longer than Newcastle is a huge advantage and they are still a basketcase.
The very fact AFL can't even get any interest on any overseas nations really shows which is the better game.

Now to the point of the post... is the nrl in financial trouble ? I was surprised to see 15 clubs making a loss. Is that true aflcrap or is it incorrect ? Just wanting to know how many as I find there being 15 clubs a bit hard to believe ?

I think a lot of clubs run at a loss
But because we have a different set up to AFL it's not as bad as made out
Rich private owners
Or rich league (pokie) clubs make it far easier to overspend when they know any shortfall is picked up by these backers

Fair enough ... but I think this has to be a concern in that the clubs appear to struggle to be financially viable ... 15 out of 16. But as you say if they have rich benefactors to bail them out they may be less frugile then they should be.
