He stood down most likely from pressure applied by the AFL. He wasnt sacked straight away because the AFL didnt want to influence the local leagues tribunal.

I have no issue with the result, his ban looked appropriate, and the ramifications justified. I do find it funny how assumptions were made this would be a cover up to save the AFL from embarrassment. The fact he punched the guy not in the work place is why he cannot be sacked possibly. As you point out the two have no official bearing. A resignation was likely the only way to go.

Once again you are wrong Fred. Many occupations including fumbling have clauses in their employment contracts stating that if the employee brings the employer into disrepute outside of the workplace they can be sacked. Simple as that.

In any case this dill has now been charged by Police and the matter has become criminal. The epidemic continues.
