AS I said, theres a massive number of once a year RL fans that tune in for it, even way more than your own GF. Well done for having 3 popular games for the year
Over half a million Victorians watched this game last year. About 1.5m all up. 150 thousand Victorians watched this years test, another 2 or 300 000 thousand will. Well over a quarter of a million will watch the storm in the home and away rounds another half a Million will be watching them in the semis and if the Storm make the Grand Final expect another 800 thousand Victorians plus to be watching them.

But Victorians don't care :(/ :(/ :(/

Listen... it's an event, a spectacle...and a good one at that. Victorians will also watch the 400 metre women's at the Olympics in vast numbers or swimming ... however put this his on as a normal week in week out event and the numbers aren't so big. But hey, it's a great event and one where people sit down to watch on a Wednesday night.

The soo is also a sell out most years .... yet rl struggle to get people to season nrl games through out the year.

Oh my
It's part of our season .
It's not hard to understand unless you're a follower of a game that has no rep games .

Nope. It's part of the rl calender for sure but not part of the nrl season that culminates in someone winning the gf.

Fred the best 40 players in the NRL are chosen to represent there state in a parallel competition that is the premier sporting event in this country and the envy of every other code. It has an adverse affect on the main competition but the positives far out weight the negatives. It prevents us from having to come up with suggestions like Wildcards to try and get some interest back into our competition. :(/ :(/ :(/

and for the rest of the year the matcfh viewing average is around 20,000. Just like the AFL sydney average of 27,000, and yet more than half a million watched the AFL grand final on tv there too. Or like Soccer folks who watch fuck all during the season and then millions watch when the world cup is on.
So what Wookie? What's ya point? The Melbourne cup is the same with the vast majority of punters and viewers having a casual interest or one off's.

Does that detract from the event? Does anyone say the Melbourne Cup is rubbish because horse racing only stops the nation once a year? Do people say the Melbourne Cup ruins the rest of the horse racing calendar?

Before you answer: take a few deep breaths, count to 10, smell the roses, you get very very cranky when you talk about SOO. It's only a game pal.

STATE OF ORIGIN

Clubs love having there players play in this Sporting contest..

the players that are lucky enough to be apart of the SERIES

come out being better players as they have just played one tough game..

This is than taken back to club footy where they excel

Define a Season In a Sporting code.

the matter to that fact is With the NRL

it has many Values in the Rugby League Calendar.

Totally agree. Parallel competition and indeed I think other codes would love to have something as big as soo. Certainly up there as one of the biggest sporting events in the country. Doesn't get the same hype in other states but for a minor sport in those states it does phenomenally well there.

Way to miss the fucking point you patronising fuckwit.

Its this belief that Origin figures represent in any way a greater interest in rugby league outside of those 4 theatre matches that is laughable. In the same way that AFL grand final viewing figures in Sydney arent representative of wider AFL interest in the city.
Oh dear.....didn't take the deep breaths or count to 10 did ya Wookster. You're a naughty boy..lololololol.

I actually agree with ya, you angry little man. Each SOO game is an event that draws massive sponsorship, crowds, ratings and media interest. Just like the fumbleballl GF. Neither means they are representative of their strengths or weaknesses in their respective foreign markets. But they sure do put the product in the consumers eyes. And the consumers tune in. How is that not creating greater interest and awareness, even in the foreign markets?

If you want to become a serious commentator Wookie you must put your partisan, angry, fumbleball zealotry to one side. Some of the stuff you say and collate is very good but you ruin it by angry, ranting, spitting, partisan zealotry. Please settle down pal. Speak to Leeroy who seems to be a very level headed contributor here. Maybe put him in charge of the whole shebang.

Love and peace to you Wookster......and here's hoping we can all live in peace and harmony.

It's why the byes are around this period .
It's run by the NRL
The players are from the NRL .
It's part of our season
its the pinnacle of your season, and get a massive boost in following from once a year fans. However, its between two Australian states only. Dont kid yourself that the rest of Australia is more than remotely interested
Yet it gets more viewers than every single AFL game bar their grand final. :\:

It has more appeal than just RL fans, that's why. Same as the olympics appeals to more than athletics or swimming fans, or the soccer world cup gets a far larger audience than there would be soccer fans in Australia.

The AFL GF draws around half a million NSW viewers . Throughout the season they would be lucky to draw a handful so using your logic it must be nothing more than event - a gimmick.
