Quite an amusing thread. I particularly liked swines unobjective point on what is and what is not objective :(/ "you'd have to measure everyone's sprint times and then average them to see who is the fastest"

Sorry Swines but that's not gunna find out which code has the most explosive and speedy athlete sprinters. You must measure the fastest in each code to measure that and we all know the RL players blow the AFL trotters away in speed, power, explosiveness, agility, toughness, and strength.

Its quite obvious given the nature of the games. Having played both codes I know you gotta sprint in marngrook, sometimes for fair distances... but its a long game and a big field so training emphasis must be placed more on endurance and trotting it out rather than exciting explosive blitzing speed drills.

Quite obvious. But the fumblers in here, well apart from me, don't have a clue.

Like hunt and folau showed?
Nrls finest a pack of slow unco plodders
What's that you say? Like Hunt and Folou who made the cut at the highest level for numerous seasons with relatively zilch experience? Like Hunt and Folou who were lauded as potential greats by the most knowledgeable AFL heads in the game?

These things happened lic. I'm sorry bro, I know it must be a reality check to see blokes from another code waltz in and play better than a heap of your lads who've been training and dreaming to make the cut for decades :_<>

That's right both Hunt and Folou's official AFL player ranking status was above many others who'd been training and dreaming hard all their lives...with jack diddly experience they did this! :(/

The facts tell us all we need to know.

RL players - faster - stronger - more powerful - more agile - tougher.

A quick google and we find some of the highest bench press boasting from both codes

NRL
Gold Coast recruit Dave Hala is another, boasting a 195kg bench press.
You can find numerous others in the NRL who are equal to or up above the 180kg bench press

AFL
there was no doubting Gehrig's strength and intimidation factor during his playing years, and his work in the weights room remains legendary. His press of 172.5kg is still the record at the Saints
And you can barely find anyone else who can bench above 150kg in the AFL

It's just the way it is

Anyone keen to research speedsters? Imagining all the fumblers hands and heads drop when asked to undertake this research. Swines?

:(/

If you wanna see Faster, Tougher, More Powerful, More Agile, and Stronger athletes... then watch the NRL folks, watch the NRL :)

Stronger yes as all the nrlol players have to do is do short jogs with the odd sprint

As with the hunt and folau case they both had to drop weight and muscle to be more agile around the footy field.

As proven proven nrlols finest, not agile enough, to slow, to unco and stupid to play in the AFL
Australian sporting sponsorship
AFL excess of $50m
A league $30 million plus
ARU $27 million
NRLOL $25 million

If you were to ask who can bench press more i think most would say nrl as it is more a power sport. Nothing ground breaking there. Two different sports with different body types.

But as for sprinting. .. and AFL having little ... well that is clearly wrong.

Lets be honest here. Both were promotional tools and paid as such. Hunt actually did okay and was serviceable but falou was a fish out of water. Hunt took his opportunity and gave it his all... he was determined and that is what likely makes him a top athlete. Falou really struggled and if not playing at the giants where he was given a game because of who he was and to try and develop him, would not really have made the seconds side. Now can we let it go. We all know this is how it turned out so lets move on.

They were picked as marketing tools! Even the AFL paid for some of their wage.

They were not picked up in one of the drafts like every other player.

Hunt and folau were given ample opportunity to make the grade, in the end they struggled to make the team in a wooden spoon winning side.
They were a pack of unco plodders

Now they are dominating in union!

They were hardly a success spazza!
Nothing but a good indication in how much of an unskilled sport fir ****** plodders league is!

Its even the more unskilled version of both the rugby codes

So which one of Falou or Hunt were quicker than the AFL players? Neither had startling success, far from it in fact. Hunt was the better of the two but barely made the Suns top 30 players as far as stats go

Who was the AFL coach singing Falou praises in the paper the other day?

Rexona challenge: beach sprint 1 - 2 - 3 times proves it :thumbleft:

Dermie Brereton, "AFL Great", said Folou will be something special and compared Folou to a young and now AFL current superstar Tom Hawkins

I'm afraid lic and others, our blokes waltzed in, they showed that without the decades of experience they could either cut it at the top level or showed that they would likely be future champions

They're just far superior athletes.

Lic you said league players are too slow. Can you compare some sprint times of NRL fastest with AFL fastest?

I know James Roberts the Broncos flyer was running 11:00 second 100metres....at the age of 14  Any AFL players in their prime able to run quicker than 14 year old James Roberts?

Trying to put a positive spin on the fact that folau and hunt were the worst players on a list filled with kids.

Hunt and folau were the ultimate uncos. Struggling to mark & kick the ball. Let alone hand balling it
