are they tuning in because they like SOO or RL? I've even watched SOO at times, not because I like RL in any way, but because its funny watching a state the size of NSW continually lose to QLDParraEelsNRL wrote:It's very simple, you don't watch what you don't like or are not interested in, it is not hard to change the channel or turn the TV off, hence I never watch the AFL.
Seems plenty in Victoria have an interest in Rugby League at various levels.

Re: Origin 1 breaks viewer records again
As I said if you are not interested you don't watch, it really is simple and you can make up any excuse as to why you watch it you like, I don't like the swans and even if they were guaranteed to lose a GF I wouldn't watch it because I wanted them to lose, I wouldn't care.
Unlike you
It doesn't matter if it is a club game at the end of the year which so happens to be a GF or a SOO game or an International or whatever, if people tune in for any reason and actually watch the game, they are interested.

Re: Origin 1 breaks viewer records again
and the RL SOO clearly is an event that draws a great deal of interest above and beyond what the NRL does. The Olympics and the soccer world cup are good comparisons where people who have limited interest in the sport will tune in due to the hype of the eventParraEelsNRL wrote:As I said if you are not interested you don't watch, it really is simple and you can make up any excuse as to why you watch it you like, I don't like the swans and even if they were guaranteed to lose a GF I wouldn't watch it because I wanted them to lose, I wouldn't care.

Re: Origin 1 breaks viewer records again
Mate I picked the most recent year. I could pick 2014s too where the NRL grand final also won if you like.Xman wrote:picking a single year is stupid. Ours was very one sided while yours was apparently the best GF for years.NRL&NFLweLaughATafl wrote:Very close with the NRL grand final peak but does beat AFLs easily.Xman wrote:It proves that people around the nation are interested to see if NSW or QLD will win SOO. Remember it also outrates your own GF by quite a margin, not only ours
NRL 2015 gf regional & capitals peak 4.4 million
AFL 2015 gf regional & capials peak 3.9 million
Does'nt matter xman. Which ever way you look at it, there are a lot of people tuning in to watch a game of rugby league.

Yeah they had a good run in the aftermath of the war, so happy that's all over, back to business as usual.

Put it this way
If Vic V SA in AFL SOO was shown in Qld ....would I watch .
Only if you put a gun to my head ...& then I'd ummmm & aghhhhhhh
You don't watch what you're not interested in .
The claim that people watch because it's an event or nothing else on or blah blah is a fallacy to avoid the fact RL has the biggest & most popular sporting game every YR.
It's to comfort those who can't face the reality of the world outside the AFL propaganda bubble

IMO because it's a state thing people get behind it - people I know who came from NSW who never watch RL watch SOO. But I agree if your interested in it you'll watch it.

Was too busy laughing at how origin 1 smashed every single AFL match this year with viewer numbers.

Re: Origin 1 breaks viewer records again
you mean the article that claims the AFL is only popular in one state? If this is honest fact the NRL should be worried. The combined attendance at AFL games in NSW, QLD, WA, SA and TAS rival the NRLs entire competition
