Oh i see. Well it is goodthe nrl have a national under 18 team . i guess the question is do they have a state based representative comp. Underlying this of course is the observation that rl has few i think rl players from non traditional areas playing at a representative level.
No it is a club based competition like the TAC or VFL development teams.

I'm not sure this is quite what it's made out to be. It looks like all the allies players bar two from Sydney come from traditioanl AFL areas in the south of the state. Not quite the game changer some think.

Yes we have a state based comp

The Affiliated States Championship is an annual rugby league competition run by the Australian Rugby League involving the four affiliated states (Victoria, South Australia, Northern Territory and Western Australia) plus the Australian Police and Australian Defence Force.

Following the Championship, a Combined Affiliated States (CAS) representative side is selected from the teams to tour the Pacific islands .

Not so last year there was no Allies side and Queensland won last year and Tassy was a lot stronger would have been lucky to have 9-12 players so 17 is a big improvement!

That's not an U18 comp thou!

Yes but what I'm saying is 15 of the 17 kids came from traditional AFL areas in the south of NSW which is a result we would have seen 10 years ago, 20 years ago and 30 years ago. Even though we've now got a lot more players in NSW as a whole the powerbase is still the Riverina, Broken Hill etc.

No that's not correct - RAMS have only been going for about 20 yrs - it is not as some would have it AFL heartland as RL is very big in Wagga Wagga and north of there - on the boarder yes - but there is only 3 or 4 of those players with most coming further north - last year only 7 NSW players drafted - year before same - prior to that lucky if there were 1 or 2 a year so again your wrong!

I'm not sure why you're so adamant Swans. It used to be the Teal cup which I played in during the 70's from the Riverina. I haven't got the team list in front of me but I've seen it and 15 players come from the exact same areas and clubs that the kids I played with came from in the 70;s. The allies only have 2 kids from Sydney from memory which is similar to the 70;s.

What I'm saying is nothing much has changed even though we now have a lot more players and promotion etc. in NSW. There's still a long way to go anywhere north of the Barassi line.

AFL crap, i guess behind all this is the proposition the rl could not put up a victorian side or south australian side that would be any good. Well we all know that so it is not a big issue. Rl is virtually nob existent outside non traditional areas but so what? I think wa has some grass roots though and decent enough talent.

How is the following rep teams in Un18 comparable to the Tac comp .

VIC v WA
SA v NT
VIC v NT

SA v WA
NT v WA

You asked the question

Why didn't you say so in the first place??? You put up an u18 affiliates comp which I wasn't asking about - I was genuinely asking the question - but to give half the information and withhold the other half makes you the one with the problem. Perhaps if you approach the question from the way it was asked instead of trying to score some imaginary points there wouldn't be endless posts about nothing.
