So a 50% increase isn't a major improvement? LOL Sydney FC is saying 50% improvement he would be happy with, I think it will be more but hey 50% growth in 3 years??? I think is a substantial outcome, so not really sure what you are saying there Beaussie

Coming from such a pitiful figure for your last broadcast rights, I can see how you would like to spin that 50% growth line. No one else is falling for it though.

So it isn't a 50% growth? Actually $60M would be more than 50% as it looks likely the Socceroos will be taken out of the broadcast rights and sold separately. So $60M is 50% more than $40M but that $40M included international games. Sorry I know you AFL people have a hard time with international games.

Simple fact is Sokka just doesn't rate .
Tried it on FTA ..rated terribly
STV ratings ..woeful
I can't see any way there will be a massive increase .
Only way is a bidding war
FOX V OPTUS or another .
If that doesn't happen ...good luck with an increase

Who can be bothered sitting inside watching soccer in the heat of summer when you can be at the beach or outdoors. That's why people don't want to watch on tv!

My $60 million prediction is a fucking annual figure you idiot. You then said talk to me when you have $1 billion. So you skip from a discussion on Annual to a total package.
So like I said you don't have a$1 Billion annual deal. Now go away and learn to comprehend before you make a bigger fool of yourself.

I think Phil Rothfield is off the mark but he posted in the telegraph earlier in the week the possibility of a $500 million over 5 seasons deal.
Like I said, I think off the mark but very interesting

Yep, and you saw the start of it last week and you will see it again on Tuesday night. Channel 9 are showing the Socceroos qualifying rounds.

Hang on, I thought the Socceroos deal was separate to the A-League deal. Any specific interest shown by commercial networks in the A-League? With the biggest opening round game attracting a mere 142k nationwide audience I'd be concerned if I was the FFA. Other games on the weekend rated even worse.

Um, your point about the Socceroos is?

This will be hilarious. A-League is worth shit without the Socceroos.
A-League TV rights to be sold separately from Socceroos
DAVID DAVUTOVIC, Herald Sun
May 9, 2016 7:57pm
THE A-League TV rights will be sold independently for the first time,
with FFA blocked from bundling Socceroos rights into one package.
The unprecedented step leaves uncertainty around the A-League’s broadcast value, with the current $40m-a-year TV deal inclusive of the first phase of 2018 World Cup qualifiers and the 2015 Asian Cup.
