what numbers? Add NZ and Australia together and the AFL still gets more money, larger crowds, more ratings, and has more membersParraEelsNRL wrote:Based on all the numbers combined.

Re: Easter Weekend sellouts for UK Rugby League
What, are you stupid or you want to waste my time with some response you won't GIVE a fuck about and will forget only to ask or say the same stupid shit in 6 months time pretending you never asked or mentioned it ever before, so fucking sick of the idiots on here.
Is Australasia only made up of NZ and Australia for a start you imba? 2nd, half of Aus hates your game, no one at all watches it in NZ so there's all your argument gone already, wanna add the other 11 million or so people from the pacific that have no interest in your code as well bar 10,000 on bird shit island?
The RL has semi pro comps in all them islands, they have 4 teams from 3 nations playing Rugby League in Australia next year alone. Only s15 union comes close because of the amount of Kiwi sides in that department because Sth Africa, Japan and Argentina ARE NOT part of Australasia.
RL outrates all those other sports already each year, you could almost COMBINE all other footy codes ratings just IN AUSTRALIA alone and see Rugby League STILL on top yet you want to argue the AFL is bigger on TV when it has never been the biggest thing on TV, even when you had every game shown on FTA TV each week the NRL was holding its own with 1 live and 2 delayed, get off the CRACK.
Participation has soccer as number 1 in the region followed easily by Rugby League followed by AFL followed by Union just on the number in Australia alone because of its population, the 15 million or so from all the islands have either rugby league or rugby union as their national sport with the other rugby code being second outside of only PNG where AFL does ok and so does soccer. Union not so much for some reason.
Rugby League has every game shown live on FTA TV in PNG and Fiji, no other sport gets anywhere near this amount of promotion, it's a fantasy to say AFL has any hold over the rugby codes in the islands, it's not even on the radar.
All you (AFL) have is half of Australia with 4 struggling outposts in the other areas of the country with minimal interest anywhere else. The other codes have big presences in all the island counties, some have professional football clubs (Rugby League has png, Fiji, NZ and ofcourse the other half of Australia) Rugby Union has eastern states of Aus, NZ massive presence, a massive presence in most Islands bar PNG. Soccer has pro clubs in Aus as well as NZ, they also have semi pro comps in all nations of the area, it's just not that much supported on the box or at the grounds like the other codes, sell a bit of premier league gear tho, dunno why, must be cheap to get (Chinese knockoffs?).
You have a PNG professional side averaging 16k since their new stadium opened, yet rugby league isn't a big sport in png according to the AFL scribes, AFL is bigger.

What is relevant is the actual following of each code, and the 4 AFL states plus following in NT, NSW and QLD follow AFL in greater numbers than anything RL dishes up in Australasia. In fact you could add the entire worlds attendances for RL leagues and the AFL would still be ahead

Interest wise RL smashes AFL
Participation( not an accurate guide but spruiked by the Aflol for yrs as a gauge of interest )

Then add PNG .RL.the national sport
Then NZ
Then pacific islands .

Re: Easter Weekend sellouts for UK Rugby League
Lol you are still talking about One country .
Typical fumbler.
Lol Parra was talking about Australsia.
So far you rambled about one country .
Yet ignored where I posted about RL in NZ
How it's The national sport of PNG..almost a religion up there
Played in the pacific islands
Places where AFL has minimal presence .
So anytime you'd like to put up some argument against parra claim that includes all of Australasia . Go ahead .
Australasia, a region of Oceania, comprises Australia, New Zealand, the island of New Guinea, and neighbouring islands in the Pacific Ocean. Charles de Brosses coined the term in Histoire des navigations aux terres australes.

Because across Australasia that's all you have .
Interest wise RL smashes AFL
Participation( not an accurate guide but spruiked by the Aflol for yrs as a gauge of interest )
AFL doesn't even win against RL in Aust .
Then add PNG .RL.the national sport
Then NZ
Then pacific islands .
You hang everything on attendances .
Ignore other means of interest .
Lol @ you fumblers
You just have to laugh at AFL exhibition matches halving in 3 years in New Zealand despite free ticket give aways and a massive AFL promotion drive.

AFL is a big fish in a small pond. Your dominant in an area with a total population of under 11 million =D>
And have a limited following in the other half of the country.

Is a bit like Gaelic football thinking they are huge when played only in Ireland and unknown everywhere else.

I don't think you guys realise Rugby League has a whole other profesional league in England and huge Pacific Island growth of the sport.
Where is AFLs Pacific Nations test?
Where is AFLs UK professional league?
Has AFL ever had New Zealand the number one nation at their sport? Which is currently the case now.
Is really quite comical AFL thinking it's huge in an area with a smaller population than most states in America.

Re: Easter Weekend sellouts for UK Rugby League
you honestly think we care if RL is a distant 3rd in the UK, and a distant second in NZ? Add crowds for all these countries combined and it wouldnt get close to the AFL
King-Eliagh: ...I believe [RL] is popular in all the other states and territories, bar tasmania.

Lol back to crowds again .
Jesus Christ .
You are ignoring my argument because you can't argue against it .
RL is far bigger in Australasia than Aflol .
Deal with it

Smashes AFL on the box in aus, smashes it in merchandise sales in aus, gets 4 or the top 5 programs on tv each year bar maybe a once in a while world cup or whatever big commotion.
AFL, first in crowds and pet members, good for you.
