or maybe the event is the thing that attracts Melbourne people. If there prepared to sit through two and a half hours of absolute shit and then do it all over again the next week then who knows how the brain of a Victorian works?
yeah you do go because its an event. If Elton was playing in Melbourne 8 times a weekend his crowds would drop significantly for each show. A one off concert will always draw more. The same happens for the olympics when people suddenly love swimming or pole vaulting. The reality is the event is the draw card, not the individual sports

pussycat wrote:Discounted tickets might be a factor in Melbourne, But in Sydney most tickets are $400.00 ,a cheap seat , up in the nose bleed section go for $100 . If companies want to buy tickets and give them away as part of promotion , then that's there business.
There will be 800,000 + southerners tunning in Wednesday week match, and they would be doing that if the event was marbles.
So suck it up , mmmmh you can almost taste that fear.
most tickets $400
rubbish
so thats why they are struggling to sell those cheap seats of $50 a ticket

You Dont make more money - you ratings are'nt as good - and you sure do sound like someone that cares.

Fucking hell its one of those people that cant read. Go fucking read your annual reports and tell me who makes more from broadcasting. For fun

added in in with real world advertising figures
Australian sporting sponsorship
AFL excess of $50m
A league $30 million plus
ARU $27 million
NRLOL $25 million
bup tada buptadarrrrrrrrrrrrr
the Minnow shit tank of a comp NRLOL is further behind, the pissing contest of murdochs and packers who gave the NRLOl advertising money cant buy, all those millions hand outs in government funding and poke clubs, league is the dominant code in australia biggest and most expensive advertising marked, yet the NRLOL are still decades behind

I also have heard of plenty of people that go to a GF each year that don't follow either side - they are not invested in the game only the event of a GF - same as for EJ - he had big concerts back in the late 80's people used to go there not because they were huge fans of his but again it was once in a life time! This is always your argument you pick out 1 fact then make it the whole argument even when proven wrong! It's like arguing with a 2 yr old!

Im an Elton fan...late 80s big concerts? his biggest hits and concerts were the 70s, and till now he can still attract big concerts, take the tour of Australia at the end of this year for example.
From Victorians don't love RL to Elton john in 3 pages, god I love footy fight club.

Its not what you made in the past , its not revenue - liabilities - assets or any other figures you want to pull out of your ass. Its your bottom line, our was bigger last year and once again this year!

Elton john concerts are a one off , you basically get the same thing - Origin games dont. thats why there numbers
don't drop off Rambo
Only a person with series issues would attend something that didn't like or didnt care for.

it is revenue, because that allows you to spend money where you want to. The AFL save as much as they feel they need to, and spend the rest where they want to to enhance the game, eg: stadium deals, grass roots programs, expansion teams.
Saving cash, beyond a futures fund, isnt the aim because neither code is a business where the profits are divided amongst investors, so your claims are BS

Here's an AFL v NRL comparison:
- AFL guy has a high paying job earning around 500k pa, lives in a penthouse apartment in the city, drives a new Porsche, is a member of Royal Melbourne Golf Club, and buys pretty much whatever he wants. He basically spends what he earns but puts about $10k pa for any unexpected expenses
- NRL guy has an average job earning 65k pa, lives in a dumpy apartment in the burbs, drives a 2009 Hyundai, plays golf at the local public course, and skimps on most things to try and save a nest egg for the future. He manages to put away 20k per year
Pussycat is trying to tell us the second guy is better off

Non profity organisation, private and public business, budgets all have a bottom line. And that bottom line(profit/surplus) is arrived at by subtracting what comes in from what gos out.

of course, but the aim isnt to make individuals wealthy, its to firstly earn the amount needed to make your comp viable, then enough to enhance it, and this requires revenue and spending. The AFL could stop all extra spending and boast a huge profit, but what would that achieve?
