Ian Roberts came out and was never an issue to League fans. He more than proved himself as still being one the toughest players ever and was still respected.

RUGBY LEAGUE IS ABOUT SPORT, NOT SOMEONES HOMOSEXUALITY LIKE AFL WANT TO CELEBRATE. If someone is gay so what, that is their business.

I seriously think this is maybe why AFL got rid of their cheergirls.
:[] of the two codes the NRL is the one struggling for fans
Not really when major Rugby League events like the Grand Final and State of Origin destroyed AFLs grand final in the tv ratings.
Had decent crowds at NRL games this weekend.

NRL knows AFL will always have a lot more homosexuals following their code. Is a very different culture and crowd following AFL in Sydney compared to NRL.
The Swans attract more the inner city types while Rugby League is more the working class suburban game here.

Rugby League has already proved itself to be tolerant of gay people when it had Ian Roberts playing 15 years ago. Just shows how far ahead the NRL was in accepting peoples different sexualities compared to AFL.
So has no need to have a gay pride round.

last year was the first in many that the NRLs GF beat the AFL GF and was mainly due to the matchup. The SOO is another comp entirely and rates well because its in prime time and draws in state interest not just the sport itself.

Decent crowds at the NRL this weekend? What 120k for 6 games or something? Yeah, wonderful. Carlton v Richmond in rnd one will get 80k on its own

By Sydney Rugby League crowds it was good turnouts.

You AFL fans are so funny boasting about your crowds in one country.

AFL IS A BIG FISH IN A TINY POND NOTHING MORE. :(/ :(/

Your AFL international cup was a laughing stock with no media outlet wanting to cover it. :(/ :(/ :(/

When AFL get people in other nations playing their sport seriously then you can crow about how big AFLs following is.

Becuase at the moment AFL has people trying to promote their game in the UK and New Zealand and getting nowhere lol..

AFL might have huge crowds in Southern states but that is all you have. Nothing more outside Australia :(/ :(/ :(/

Unlike Rugby League which has other nations playing and growing their code competitively. :\: :\:  :\:

international RL is a laughing stock. look at the world cup, its dominated by Australia & NZ vs minnow playing nations topped up with NRL players the rules for players representing other playing nations are piss week.

AFL never really ventured in to NSW & QLD until the 80s/ 90s. the swans are the Largest club in NSW & the lions were out doing the broncos for a few years. only sliding down a bit due to international board room battles & being shit on field.

have a look on the gold coast, the NRL set up the titans, thinking they had a successful venture, only to be over run by the GC Suns :(/

the titans are now 25 million in debt, kicked out of their training and admin facility, & cannot find a sponsor, all in what is meant to be RL heart land.

now look at the storm in Melbourne. millions of extra money pumped in to them by the NRL & former owners Newt ltd. world champions, NRL premiers been very successful in their existence, yet they are still the most irrlevant club in Vic :(/

before knocking the AFL's growth in to new territory have a look at your own little pathetic NRLOL first :thumbleft: :)))
