Wellington is complicated.

The TV Rights covers the cap, so I would hardly think the owner(s) are bleeding much at all (mainly depends on their stadium deal)

The complicated bit is, the AFC don't like NZ being in our tournament (as they are not in Asia) but they allow it, to my knowledge they have not been shown cause why they shouldn't be in it. I think the licence extension (others have got 20 or 30 years) is a type of show cause. The only way they would go is if a new mainland team replaced them, and no indications that is occurring, so I think they are pretty safe.

I would be happy for them to go, as they are my Wanderers bogey team, for some reason we always struggle against them, you know how it goes.

the TV rights cover the cap

but its Australian fans & clubs who are footing the bill for the Kiwis
2.5 million FFA are giving this NZ team a year
they get 200K in return from NZ broadcasters

they add nothing
zip
zilch to the LOL league

in comparison
the Warriors are an asset to the NRL
6.6 million a year goes to them in our cap from the NRL

NZ broadcasters pay the NRL 20 million a year for them to be around
it makes good business sense for them to be in the NRL
& when the 2nd NZ team starts up in 2022 ... well.. it's another 20 mill a year at least for the NRL

Gallop won't wear this situation for long
he will bid them ............. bye bye as soon as hes able to & there will be no NZ teams in the future

plus
the Jets are about to be wound up in the next 7 days or so by the NSW dept of state revenue over outstanding debts to them
FFA will need to find 500K ... that they don't have atm but may be able to borrow .... to pay the bill
players are unpaid
front office staff are ... unpaid
coaching staff .. unpaid
the bill may end up at 750K for this month just to keep them taking the field for the rest of this season so FFA doesn't default on their TV contract with foxtel

the bill may end up at 2 million for FFA for the rest of this season to keep them playing
its a fucking disaster

enjoy

Businessman Nathan Tinkler recently stated that the Newcastle Jets soccer team’s debts will be repaid in full. However, the New South Wales Office of State Revenue has made an application to the Supreme Court to have Newcastle Jets Football Operations wound up due to an outstanding debt, which is believed to concern payroll taxes. The Jets have won only one match in the 2014-15 season

If this is true, it does not surprise me. All of the out of city A league teams are struggling.

I don't think there much of lost
if wellington go..
the A league would prob get more by putting a team in Tassie...

Big costs in travelling for the Phoenix team, and stadium deal and coaching staff.
prob losing a couple million a year. which is the norm I would say, until they get better crowds...
