I remember AFL complaining when Australia bidded for the soccer world cup and they found out that if Australia won the rights. They would have to reschedule AFL games.

SO AMUSING THAT AFL ACTUALLY THINK THEIR SHIT STINKY ONE NATION GAME IS BIGGER THAN SOCCER. FIFA WOULD EAT THE AFL ALIVE AND SPIT THEM IN THE BIN IF THEY TRIED THAT. :<>
the NRL kicked up stink similar to the AFL, because of conflict scheduling, contracts & ground sharing
SOO only which is 3 games liar.

Australia's largest stadiums are currently used by other major Australian sports whose domestic seasons overlap with the World Cup. The Australian Football League and National Rugby League claimed that loss of access to these major venues for eight weeks would severely disrupt their seasons and impact the viability of their clubs.[58][59] The AFL in particular had previously advised it would not relinquish Etihad Stadium in Melbourne for the entire period required.[60] On 9 May 2010 the AFL, NRL, and FFA announced a Memorandum of Understanding guaranteeing that the AFL and NRL seasons would continue, should the bid be successful. Compensation for the rival football codes would be awarded as a result of any disruptions caused by hosting the World Cup.[61] AFL CEO Andrew Demetriou came out in support of the bid, despite initially not supporting the bid. [62][63] Franz Beckenbauer indicated that the issue of factional disputes between the FFA, NRL and, AFL were not considered by the FIFA Executive Committee.[64] Although initially Australia seemed to be a popular contender to host the tournament, the final Australian World Cup bid received only one vote astonishing Franz Beckenbauer [65] and experts alike.

what was that flog! dipshit
AFL & NRL both kicked up a stink & would be rewarded compensation
considering the NRL has its shittly little government funded club grounds to go back to that they struggle to fill, something the AFL does not. the NRL's season would hardly have been affected :thumbleft:

given the NRL would have benefited out out of the world cup and the AFL would not have. For a venue to be used it needs to have a capacity of 40k plus, meaning permanent rectangular venues used will have been upgraded

Actually from memory it was just the AFL. Just like only the AFL making things difficult for real football in Melbourne.

AFL is nothing compared to soccer and they know that. This is why they do everything they can to stop the sports progress in Melbourne.

Compare GWS to Western Sydney Wanderers. You guys are being left in the dust from soccer in Western Sydney.

Ummm, I think you'll find RL and Soccer share quite a few grounds in different countries just like what has been happening out here since 1908, why would RL have a problem with Soccer having a WC in any nation? RL is played in other nations and some of those other nations have held the Soccer wc, RL is still played in those counties. When will you get it through your thick head, RL and Soccer are not at war over where the game is played, it's a free market and it's up to each sport to carve their own existence.

Well said Parra, is only the AFL that think their crap game is the only sport being played.

France had the Soccer WC a few years back, hasn't stopped RL from finally getting a full time pro team playing out of Perpignan.

England held the Soccer wc years ago and RL is still played in the same places in England it always was and now has started expanding outwards itself.

The USA held the Soccer wc and RL wasn't played in the USA att, RL now has 2 divisions playing under the USARL banner.

I guess that will all go over LIC's head.

lol, so are the NRL clubs going to be in the near future!

now go back to my post before

in QLD, a new stadium in Townsville was to be built, Suncorp stadium would have been used.
in NSW, the stadium in the shit hole of Newcastle was going to be used & in Shitney Allianz & ANZ was going to be used.
The NRL did kick up a stink about it & was going to be compensated like the AFL.but Seeing the NRL lives off government funding for their stadium & club grounds, made their claim to be even more of a joke!

for the AFL in Victoria, the MCG & Etihad & Simonds Stadium the majority of the funding comes through private investment so the, AFL has every right to kick up a fuss,
its stadiums in SA & WA, & QLD will be affected as well due to scheduling conflicts with the world cup & there is no other stadium in those that cities that could host AFL games

Is funny how much these AFL hipster losers make up lies :^o

Is not NRL making things difficult for the Soccer finals. Only the AFL because they see another sport as a threat.

This is just how AFL work, they play dirty against any rival code.
I heard they even tried to get exclusive rights to Homebush stadium so other codes could not use the stadium. Made no sense as GWS barely have a following.

so you accuse AFL fans of making up lies, then make up a lie that the AFL is trying to take exclusive control of homebush!
