IT’S a landmark day for Pacific Island rugby league with news a Fiji side will feature in the NSW Cup in 2016.

This is an amazing time for Papua New Guinea and the PNGRFL. This is the first time in the history of Rugby League in PNG, that we will have a team entered into the Q-Cup Intrust Super Cup.

The New Zealand Warriors have made it two wins in as many weeks
Hmmmm, two of these Islander teams already play in our state comps and another is on it's way with the green light already given for 2016 kick off.

That's just this part of the world dopey for the professional game, in the Northern Hemisphere, they have French and Welsh teams playing in the English comps from 3rd division right up to Super league.

if anyone has problems getting any players (esp ones that aren't white), it's your code.

The only state I can think of that does not have a current player in the NRL would be Tasmania, and yeah, that's a real hot bed for the sport :drunk:

RL has about 7 teams from AUSTRALIA bidding to join the NRL comp..
International Team wanting in to the Lower comps, .
We must be doing something right.
Lucky we don't have the One Whitey Parent rule...it seems to be hindering Derpball's growth.

Heaps have over the years, for crying out loud, RL has been played in some of these other states for 70 years.

In that time they have played in state comps, knockout NSWRL comps (Panasonic cup-tooths cup blah blah blah, they have also played against touring International teams over the years such as GB, NZ, France, PNG, Fiji and also smaller privately funded games against minnow nations. NSW and QLD did not ship a team full of players each time a game was played to one of these states as some of you may think they did. The lads that played, were generally locals and fellas living in those parts for work that still played RL each weekend. Many of these players went on to play in the top grade either here in Australia, or over in the UK/France.

I'd say out of all the major states on the mainland, SA would have the least input into the NSWRL-ARL-NRL.

Para, rl is hardly visible in Victoria. Compare AFL in Sydney with I believe 5 leagues to rl in Victoria ... Have a look on the internet. I lived on gippsland and there is no rl comp at all. Sports like baseball, softball, hockey, would have much bigger competitions. I'm not saying that to put rl down or be mean, it's just the way it is. I imagine it would be worse in sa.

Again, how many people have come up through the Melbourne comp and played nrl? How many people who have come up through the sa comp etc ... Do sa have one ? I think Perth is showing promise though .. Building grass roots support... Three would seem to be some more grassroots there and organisation etc.

When the nrl have as many players from non heartland states that AFL do then they will be doing well. Again, how many Aussie players playing wouldn't qualify for SOO as considered a Victoria, sa, wa player ?

Yeah that's Melbourne and i have never said anything different, they had leagues on and off since the 1920's, didn't stop France, GB and NZ playing them did it?

players have also gone on to bigger and better things.

I guess going to my original point ... On SOO in AFL and why it is more difficult ... More than 2 states. I went on to say who would, say, a South Australian play for on the SOO . This led me to say something like there a few if any players outside nsw and qld who grew up with rl and went onto to play nrl. You know what I mean ... How many players are there, you went on about there bring plenty... Maybe people born there but moved at a young age... But how many came up through their state league (not even sure sa has one) straight into the nrl ??? I think there is a storm player.
