I was just watching the news and this story comes up.

Now this guy was going around the streets of king cross randomly hitting blokes in the back of the head. He ended up killing one of his victims and then lied to police. I did a little research on this guy because I was shocked with how light the guy got off. What I learnt was that when the police arrested this guy the next day you would never guess where they piked him up. He was at a coaching clinic being held by the Canterbury Bulldogs.
Now this is probably old news to the RL supporters on this site. But wow thats just crazy. One night he is punching blokes on the streets and the next he is hanging out with his role models who do the same on the field. Just another reason why the image of RL isn't great. Now I'm not knocking the sport which is good in a lot of ways, just the attitude that its cool to punch blokes because you feel like it.

Songs have been banned in Australia before that encourage violence. Back in the early 90's IceT had a song pulled off his record for Australian distribution.

Anyway. I would like to say that the NRL has done a good job and discouraging the biff since the origin last year. So a step forward since then. However this thread is about image and many people still see RL as the sport in which you settle your differences by punching the other guy in the head. Its time for RL to kill that image for good.

Back to school with you mate. Work on those reading skills. I said he was at the clinic, how that made him a RL superstar I have no idea. I guess you just explained that random sentence in your previous post.
My posts have all been about the attitudes of many that the biff in RL is a valid way of dealing with life's issues. I drew parallels with this and the way this young man Kieran Loveridge dealt with his issues. I then pointed out that this young man was a big fan of a RL club. Is all of this a coincidence ? Probably. But it doesn't change the fact that for decades RL has promoted the biff and many of your fellow supporters on this site, support the biff as a valid way to deal with life's problems. Just ask KE and RD.
This thread is about the poor image of RL and I think I have pointed out one of the main reasons why it has this poor image. Have RL, AFL and soccer players gone around and bashed people on the streets? Of course they have. But only one of those 3 codes promoted the biff until recently.

A taxi driver was bashed unconscious and his cab was trashed in an unprovoked attack at Spotswood in Melbourne's west.

The 35-year-old driver was filling up his cab with petrol at a service station on Melbourne Road around 1:10am (AEST) on Sunday when he was approached by a bald man wearing an Essendon football jumper.

The offender bashed the driver until he was unconscious before punching in the driver's window and breaking the side mirror.

Acting Sergeant Russell King says the taxi driver was taken to hospital with head injuries.

"It's a tough job at this time of night and there is no apparent motive," he said.

"[The attacker] just wandered up and started punching on with this taxi driver who's just filling up his cab, so it's far from nice."
