I think you'll find that Parra have the higher crowds in Sydney you thickhead.
I said Crowd average - Sorry to burst your bubble here Parra but Parra have never had a crowd average as big as the Swans - This year (19k) is the best average for Parra since 1999 (23k) - what your talking about is biggest crowds - Sydney has got comparable crowds but parra has had a bigger crowd (that's if your really going to count the double header game on 6/3/99) when the ANZ stadium opened and it was the start of the NRL season). As a stand only home and away match Swans have it with 74k in 2003, since that crowd we have 7 matches of 50k+ 4 of which is in the 60's) - Parra have had two 50k crowds in its entire history on of which is in 1964 (and NO crowds in their 60's) - but the funniest thing is you have had only two crowds in the 40's - Swans have had 12! So I don't think you wanna be stupid enough to go down that path!!? Swans are far bigger than Parra!
hmmmmm
you forgot to mention Parramattas U20's are watched by more people on TV in Sydney then the swines are though fucktard

:_<> :_<> :_<>
I mean seriously
when Parra play to 18K at Pirtek... or 25K at ANZ
theres usually a few more then that watching on TV
400K anyone
but when the SWines play to 30K at the SCG
well
theres not many more then that bothering to watch this bumbling crap on TV in Sydney is there dickhead
the swines have next to no support or interest in Sydney past the 25 to 30K ex pat sthn wankers who attend their games
Parramatta can claim to have ten times this number of people who say they are their team.
it is extraordinary & embarrassing for the Swines
their deluded halfwit fans claim they are the biggest in Sydney
when in fact
they are just about the smallest

if the NRL is watched by all these millions of people, why does this not translate in to support for the clubs
shit revenue, no fans, low sponsorship
the sharks cant even find a major sponsor
yeah millions of fans

Touché Adam Touché!!!!!
Yeah, big enough fools Telstra, Channel 9 and Fox Sports eh?

Crowds of over 3 million a year just for the NRL in Australia.
Memberships grown to over 200,000 in 5 years.
More or less the same sponsors across the board as the AFL in differing roles.
Most merchandising sold in the country each year out of all sports.
Total revenue oh I don't know, around 50 mill put away for a rainy day plus whatever else they squeezed out of sponsors and other rights to the game.
Dunno about 2nd rate, I reckon there would be plenty of nations on Earth that would love half of that for their biggest sport.

Membership at present
AFL = 795900 NRL = 245103 AFL has 550797 more members
Sponsorship
AFL easily Wookie put out a table showing so recently which had Collingwood on top - there is also this article
(Although not mentioned Swans have about 14 mil in sponsorship)

There is this

For the NRL
Well the Sharks can't even get a major sponsor
He did not detail how much the front-of-jersey agreement was worth but it is believed to be in a similar range to Pirtek's reported $900,000-a-year association with Parramatta.

Sydney has 3 million + sponsors
So AFL wins again
Merchandising
Again AFL wins - have seen a reference but can't locate it when I do will post
Revenue
AFL = 446 mil. NRL = 314 mil
AFL profit after record divided to clubs and 87 mil future fund 16.6mil
NRL after slight increase to clubs and no futures fund = 50 mil
Says it all Paralytic - NRL 2nd easily

2013 AFL Revenue - 502 million
2013 NRL Revenue - 314 million
2013 AFL Broadcast and AFL Media revenue - 234.8 million
2013 NRL Broadcast and Digital Revenue - 228 million
2013 AFL Non broadcast revenue streams - 268.3 million
2013 NRL non broadcast revenue streams - 90 million
out of the AFL and NRL annual reports
not every club releases annual reports so figures can be collected for sponsorship
but NRL clubs trail by millions in sponsorship
Collingwood - 19.65 million (includes merch.) up from 19.1 million
Geelong - 17.04 million, up from 15.69 million
Essendon - 16.84 million, up from 15.92 million
Hawthorn - 15.22 million, up from 15.08 million
NRL sponsorship
NRL commission Sponsorship 25,726
Penrith 5,428 million
crunulla sharks 4,546 million
if you have any more info so its not that embarrassing
Collingwood and Geelong generate millions through sponsor ship than the whole NRL commission combined
some info on merchandising please because that's BS
i do agree the RL does well in this department due to selling long sleeve rugby jumpers for the winter

Who cares, RL is just getting it shop in order now while your lot is going down hill, we caught halfway up in one TV rights deal after all the Super League crap was finally buried.
Suck it up princess cause the next lot of talks is going to really hurt, you'll see as your game is left behind while the other codes expand into places you and your lot could only dream.
You have 4 states in Aus, no problem, the 3 other codes will just chip away and slowly take what they want from these smaller less relevant states whilst still expanding around the Asia pacific region.
That's what you have to look forward too.

That sounds like sour grapes there paralytic - considering there are 28k registered players in NSW alone and RL has only 10k in total outside NSW/QLD in Australia - that soccer is fast becoming number one in NSW - I'd be more worried that it is RL on the slide - BTW with fast streaming and advances in technology - how long do you think either code is going to be getting big dollars from TV deals?????? When it disappears crowds membership etc will be what keeps things ticking over - RL just doesn't have the local support or national exposure to survive if the guts falls out of TV rights! AFL does!

sour grapes
AFL is expanding and growing
NRL no expansion and declining
what was it 40% of the broad cast deal is because of SOO , in an article that was posted several months ago.
the NRL a glorified amateur shit show the NRL, pathetic crowds, that have barely grown since the 1957 since they started recording crowds
1957 10100
2013 15940
http://stats.rleague.com/rl/crowds/summary.html
the only reason why NRL is big on tv is because of packer pinching off the ABC and Murdoch going up against him it with the super league crap. the NRL will continue to grow but at the snails pace it always has,
its non broad cast revenue is crap 90 million 19million of that comes out of SOO
compared to the AFL 268.3 million
the clubs survive off its poke revenue from its leagues clubs & celebrity owners who pump million in to them then get sick of it & sell them off. thats even on the pissy little revenue needed to run a NRL club which approxx half of what is an AFL club
the AFL has buit it self up from the ground and expanded every year,
the NRL is still just a glorified amateur competition

Yeah that's why we have a WA team in the NSW cup, we have a PNG side in the Qld cup, we have a Central Coast side in the NSW cup and from next year, we will have a Fijian side in the NSW cup.
If the NRL isn't getting ready for expansion, I'm not fucking here.
