Confidentiality in hospitals and other services

The law preserving confidentiality in public and private hospitals, day procedure centres and community health centres (called "relevant health services" in the Act) is to be found in section 141 of the Health Services Act 1988 (Vic) ("HSA 1988"). The section applies to the health service itself, the board of the service, or a person who is or was a member of the board, a delegate to a board, a proprietor of such a service, or engaged or employed in a service or performing work for it. These people are generally prohibited from disclosing information that could directly or indirectly identify a patient. If they do disclose such information, they have committed an offence under the HSA 1988 for which they may be fined up to $7,218 (this figure is based on 50 penalty units with a value of $144.36 each).

In addition, the HRA 2001 and the PA 1988 confer statutory privacy rights on patients, whether they are treated in a public or private facility. Both Acts set up complaint procedures for patients who believe confidential information about them has been unlawfully disclosed to a third party. For more information on this, see Chapter 21.5: Privacy Rights.

Note, however, there are some exceptions to the statutory privacy protection and doctors are sometimes required, or authorised, to disclose confidential information about patients. For example, if a breach of confidentiality is required to carry out a function under an Act, or the giving out of the information is authorised or required by an Act, then it is permissible to give out information.

Crowd comparison this week on the coast should prove amusing. Can you imagine if the Pirates started getting higher crowds than the Eagles or Dockers? Me either.

How thick are you ,& I am serious.

There is one poster on here who claims to have medical evidence from 3 health facilities about Myself & Dave.
The fact that he has the wrong person is meaningless to my claim of him being a criminal.
There are only 2 possible things happening.

1. He is lying & making shit up (very possible going by his inane dribbling posts).
OR

2.He has got info about someone (not me & in cwappers warped world no 2 people can have the same name ) & the fact that he has it means he must have got it illegaly.
There is no way any persons medical records are available to anyone bar a Doctor,or for court cases,or the person themselves.
To do what Cwapper claims he has done is a criminal offence.
So instead of defending him you should ask yourself .
Which is he...a Liar,or crim.

I go crim...
who defends a spambot in court?

the GC is a pretty hard market to crack, nrl tried in the past and failed and are failing again it seems. soccer, basketball also failed there

some things just aren't meant to be. with the broncos and cowboys stagnating and the titans close to folding maybe rugby league isnt as popular in qld as some people would like to think

if the ffa ever decide to expand there again i have no doubt that they'd do a better job than the titans and the previous a-league franchise that was there

Last ever post on this stupid forum. I haven't seen your medical records. I've been given the minimum information allowed to be given under the circumstances. I'll be publishing my proof elsewhere.
