I thought the days of questioning someone's masculinity based on what colour or type of clothes he wears were well behind us. I know it's only a troll post but really? Take a long hard look at yourselves. Some of the toughest bikies I know from some of the most notorious clubs have small dogs ... One has a pug!!! I think those comfortable in the masculinity feel they have nothing to prove therefore do what they want as others peoples views are not only irrelevant ... They don't even enter consciousness.

Phelpsy that's all good and well intentions .. Much like a young student fresh out of their first gender studies 101 tutorial. Fact is australia remains one of the more masculine countries in the world. Look I don't really care either way what these thin lads or wearing and how they like lapdogs, I'm just the messenger pointing out the truth. And the truth is that the majority of Australians still connect with australias traditional sense of masculinity, as developed during the frontier times. The AFL lads are clearly going against this, and good for them I say!

No i dont think its been stamped out in the AFL, or if it has it was stamped out when the guys first sat down writing up the rules for the game, well before any AFL game was played and well before my time. pushing isnt masculine, giving a sly little nudge with your elbow isnt masculine, wearing a singlet with tight little shorts defineatly isnt masculine. i could go on and on...

But tackling hard and fair most certainly is masculine. Bumping hard and fair is the same.

tackleing? yeh it can be masculine but seriously AFL guys dont tackle hard enough and if they do the ref penalises them.

Here is another point... yes there is tackleing in AFL but it is so much less impact than a rugby league tackle on average that if an AFL player went into rugby league he would struggle to stay uninjured as his body would not be use to the constant and hard impact, also he would need alot of bulking up with muscle growth to help the body against the hard physical game of rugby league, yes AFL is masculine when compareing to soccer or ballroom dancing, but compared to rugby league it makes AFL look like ballroom dancing.
