panthers groups are a different business entity yes but they are linked with the penrith panthers. as panthers leagues grew larger less was needed to give to the penrith panthers and more could be used on growing the clubs which they did. panthers built a stadium, a large entertaiment complex, a water park, a hotel, a golf range in the one area.

panthers leagues grew larger and then the ARL started a salary cap. with a salary cap its even less panthers can put into the penrith team.

then the ARL (then NRL) got larger and larger tv deals which parts of that is given to tams like penrith each year to run thre club. panthers didnt need to fund the club very much at all and panthers turned into an entertainment/gambleing business which is still connected to the penrith panthers club.

when ever penrith want more money it is given to them by panthers group. now due to salary cap there is a limit to how much they can pay players etc so the panthers leagues club pays for player facilities, the stadium which the club owns etc... now if the NRL suddenly abolished the salary cap panthers could and would throw as much money as they wanted into penrith, and penrith panthers as well as collingwood and brisbane broncos would be the biggest clubs

If panthers wasnt with penrith then why does panthers pay for stadium upgrades etc? and why does panthers still gives millions a year to penrith??
no
the penrith city council own the stadium and the state and federal governments payed for the up grades of the stadium
penrith where almost dead, but it wasn't until phill gould rang up his mate james packer to save the club

There's no need for that sort of abuse, 214Four. This is how you do it.

Leagueiscrap, it does you no credit to rely on an AFL slanted forum on this subject. The Daily Telegraph article - while essentially correct - simply demonstrates a club that at the time was trying to exist beyond it's means. Panthers Entertainment knew how bad it was going because saving the club (which they could have done) would cost at least two of their 14 venues in my opinion. Good for James Packer and good for Phil Gould in particular. Phil has always been a voice of reason. He has seen the threat GWS poses and he knows that it will take money to fight back. That should be applauded, not abused.

This is why Cracker would make a the best mod out of all the possible candidates. One of the most neutral posts I've read for awhile that both sides can agree and disagree with - so I'm not going to even bother even though I could!

yes it is a AFL forum, but the page is maintained by wooke & those figures are straight from the AFL clubs annual reports from 2013
most of the reports are likened on the page.
but for them to claim they are a joke, their NRL club which is what the brand is ment to be is minor and attracts stuff all sponsorship and if it wasn't for packer saving them the club wouldn't exist!
number 1 club my foot,

Let's leave the "brand" out of the equation, because it belongs to Panthers Entertainment. The club was in trouble because it was existing beyond it's means. All it needed was someone to pay off the debt and nothing more. I would suggest that you don't oversell it.
