You remember wrong..probably from all the AFL Propaganda & lies.
& why are you including H & A .
When looking at popularity of a team in its home town ,you look at HOME crowd averages.
http://stats.rleague.com/AFL/crowds/2013.html
Suns ....13907.
Titans..14028.
But dont let your AFL bias get in the way of facts..
Funny thing is every yr we hear how the Suns are going to get a higher home crowd average..

Agree crapper, home crowds reflect popularity; so we will see 20k at the tinpots home game today?
Of course any thing less will indicate that they are not as popular as the suns!

Gee we have a bright one here.
You cant guage popularity on ONE game.
A whole season average is a far better indicator.
& surprisingly to AFL tards who live in another reality...The Titans have a higher average.
& as for ratings its not even a contest,

You are taking home crowds only. Add the away crowds please.

Agree crapper one game is no accurate reflection of popularity...interesting though, none the less.
Based on current crowds, tinpots have got no hope of having a higher average than GCS, now or in the future!
Cheers

When you compare home crowds you compare home grounds only.

No you compare club popularity, and you include away crowds for a complete picture.

Sorry, but we are comparing popularity in a particular area by home as that is the most meaningful not only as closest comparison available but also the most meaningful wrt home crowds are what pays the bills.
That's irrespective of that, fact we
chose to compare only home crowds.

And such a choice does not truly reflect club popularity.
As an aside, you double posted.

Popularity is nationwide, not local. If a club is only popular locally for example that is actually a bad thing.
So if anyone is ignoring away crowds in the judgement of popularity they are making a grave error.

Away crowd are primarily opposition supporters and are not an indication of popularity of the away team. You only have to look at say the demons who have huge away crowds against Collingwood but dismal against the bulldogs.

Within a club like Collingwood for example, the crowd will still vary depending on their opponent. It takes two teams to attract a crowd, not one. That's why the away crowds should be taken into account. Not just for supporters of the away club, but the willingness by other fans to see that team. Is it right for the Suns to ignore fans at away games who go to see Gary Ablett Junior? No it's not.
