that's why our code, unlike yours .... won't have 150 million of combined club debt by the end of this year eh cockhead ?

:_<> :_<> :_<>
we'll have both by 2017
clubs that are solid financially all turning profits so not needing much if any assistance from their leagues clubs
&
400,000 members
& the VFL will probably have 250 Million of combined club debt with the code near broke keeping them afloat

The majority of AFL club debt would relate to new facilities such as essendons new multi million dollar home. Are you suggesting theyll continue to build these again and again?

Well if my team can string another few wins together that'll be one club to improve its crowds.
In 2009, Parra had around 4.5/5k members, as of right now, it stands at over 14k.
If that's not growth, I'm not here.

the Dragons , Tigers , Parramatta & Brisbane .... were the top 4 performing sides of 2005, the year the NRL broke the attendance record
last year they all had poor years
the Dragons Tigers & Broncos ... the worst in their histories
still the NRL ended up only 500 a game behind the 2005 record
the Fumbles & bumbles had all their big sides firing in 2013
Collington ... Essenbong
Richwood & Harletthorn .... & we're still 5000 a game behind their highest average set in 2008
hard numbers
telling an undeniable story

Cracker they can't say on the one hand their not important and then in the other it's unfair to refer to them as the NRL doesn't have a membership culture. They don't have the culture as they never worked on getting people to the game - it was more important to build a leagues club and fill it with pokies - and that's what people tend to forget that's where their priority lay over 30 years ago!
Yes that was indeed 30 years ago, at a time when poker machines were only legal in one state. New South Wales. That changed a long time ago and the clubs have had plenty of time to adjust their priorities. The time is ripe to do so, especially in Sydney. The NRL was embarassed by the A-League this past weekend and that should be a wake up call to clubs to get off their collective bottoms and recognise the need for crowd numbers and memberships. The NRL should be leading the charge on this, especially with the AFL commencing competition earlier than usual this year. I don't expect the Battle of the Bridge to pull as many people as the United/Wanderers derby, but if it beats the Bunnies/Roosters crowd there should be some fists beating on tables at Rugby League Headquarters.

Well I think you can relax on that one the game is being played at Spotless Stadium which only holds 25k - I think they have gone with the attitude they would rather have a full stadium at spotless than an empty one at ANZ - I think the AFL is moving away from ANZ die hard Swans fans just don't like it.

I'd think the A league would prefer to be in the NRL's shoes though just quietly
that'd be the NRL embarrassing the A League for the other 25 weekends

jesus
that's poor
all the but but butting in the world won't hide the VFL's embarrassment at not being able to sell out what is quite a small venue like the showground for its derby in the nations largest city
its a Saturday night ... the weather is going to be pretty good .... big bubba felcher playin
but Sydney's sporting public just aren't interested in this game .... its a dud .. & they know it
the pants wetting & cries of sellout sellout at ANZ .... of 2011

Well I must admit that is true. However the A League does have less clubs and are spread very thin across the country.
