I think revenue and tv viewers is quite disputable there adam.

He's fukked up bad with GWs and GC and the results in SE QLD and for GWS show it all quite clearly.

Comon now phelpsy. GC is struggling to beat the titans for crowds right? And we all know the AFL gets better crowds because of culture and structure of the game whereas league is a great ready made product for television. Therefore, if we include their results i.e middle of the basketcase league, they're kinda going real shiiithouse right?

I think the suns are going great as to its purpose to grow the game here. I can see your point if it were gws you were talking about... Lots if struggles there. If you are just talking on field performance I think that's a bit short cited. A case in point, if the giants were performing well on the field I would still say that they aren't doing so well due to off field woes. Suns are improving on field and will continue to do so. But it is their acceptance off field and the general acceptance as the towns sporting side along with titans (without all the woes that the titans have been through), I would say the suns are doing better then the lions in that area. Although lions have a strong core of supporters. Suns do too but not as large. Suns are big in media up here and lots of local natives follow them. Smart move was the growing of club from scratch ... As town has grown with them ... A bit like the gc itself, it has been the little guy and grown and now challenging to get up there... There is a parallel process I would say. Fortunate north didn't move as think the cgi wouldn't have got behind that team as much. Yes indeed, the suns are going well up here ... Once they get it together on the field, and they will, they will be massive ... The question. Will it be sustained ?

I'm fairly concerned and probably correct in thinking its gunna be some time before the suns achieve more than jack diddly squat on the field.

Lets not forget the suns have had the fortune, and I quote here, ''of being established during the most lopsided AFL competition of all time'', and likely the most lopsided professional sporting competition in Australia's and likely the world's history. Noone's been able to say otherwise with any clarity, while newspaper reports and numerous AFL experts have told us how lopsided the comp is.

So GC are sitting around 4th last in a comp where just one decade ago they would've been stone cold last.

Then we have the added factor the team has the best player in the world at the moment, not that the AFL has any reach across the world. Gary Ablett Junior will turn 30 this season and likely only has 4 more seasons in him, if that. Once he goes... dun dun duuuuunnnnnnn, its downhill for the suns im afraid. You just cant replace a bloke like that phelpsy.

I believe your talk about the hype and the interest on the ground but am pretty sure that hype will fade once the gullible folk realise that the AFL comp is kindof a hoax and their beloved sons are actually a complete perennial basketcase.
