so we add the finals figures to both comps... then RL gets to add its 17 million odd for its rep program for 2013.... maybe a couple of million more for the RLWC to 19 million
NO WE DON'T ADD THAT YOU GOOSE!!

The claim is about the NRL, not SOO or the RLToilet! Those are NOT NRL competition games!!

The NRL does NOT run all of rugby league! It runs one competition consisting of clubs in NSW, ACT, QLD, Victoria and New Zealand.

settle down sweety :(/ :(/

we're now debating which SPORT ... is this nations most watched as Xman decided to .... what did he do again :?> .. Extrapolate :-k
these figures into the VFL beating the NRL overall
then I again reminded him that when we add RL's ... lil extras
Extrapolate. to estimate (the value of a variable) outside the tabulated or observed range.

What Xman did was correct the issue withOUT adding anything! And YOU were the one who claimed it was about all of rugby league when the link you were relying on clearly said "NRL"!!

So get it right, Dave!

the article claimed the NRL has the highest average audience of any sport in this nation on both FTA & pay TV
is .... that incorrect ? :-k

then Xman claimed that this proves the VFL beat the NRL
I asked him which sport is the most watched though

his response
the VFL beat the NRL ............. 8-[ .............. :?>

I kindly pointed out neither are sports & are in fact ... comps within sports
& my questions to him remains un answered :-k

but alas
it would appear the most one dimensional limited sport on the planet ( the VFL) ...in putting all its eggs in the one basket & having nothing else to offer anyone but a heavily contrived & manipulated domestic comp
has come up short .... again .. to its multi levelled ... international... state ... & club ..plus other offerings ... more popular competitor ... in Rugby League in the battle for the overall number of TV veiwers in Australia in 2013
such a shame
such a shame

He ignored you because that is NOT what this thread is about! You're trying to change the goal posts and he hauled you up on it, and so did I!

His point is that averages mean NOTHING in this case because on the overlaps affecting the AFL. What's happening with the NRL is that Nine is making sure the games don't clash because they know that ratings will drop if they do. It's part of their TV rights deal, and I've always said that's bad for the NRL! Cheap stunts like that are exposed when the totals are revealed, as Xman did. In fact I think that the AFL beats rugby league in totals even if SOO is added, so much so that even if the RLToilet was added AFL would STILL win!

In TV ratings, averages mean very little - unlike crowds.

Too bad, Dave!

Well said. We have a thread about the NRL v AFL, and when I prove this shows the AFL have nearly a million more viewers a week Dave changes to "what about the most watched sport"

its only a million more a week with an extra fumbles n bumbles game per week
It'd be half that with the same number.... & the NRL would most likely win if all of its games were simulcast on pay .... in fact .. they certainly would

The NRL have 6-8 games shown in isolation each week, the AFL only 1, yet the AFL still tally more ratings a week by 20%.

This clearly shows which sport is more popular.

  :(/ :(/ :_<> :_<> :_<> :(/ :(/

oh the wrongness the astounding wrongness

a 3hr telecast that over laps the start of another game by 30 minutes ... is as good as in isolation you wombat   :(/ :(/
& it barely affects the average rating
thered be no more then 4 games a round for the VFL that start at the same time as another .. while the NRL have 2 every round as well.
hardly the big disadvantage your pathetically trying to claim   :(/ :(/ :_<> :_<>
again
an extra game every round for the VFL & every game simulcast is the only reason the VFL beats the NRL
when the NRL has a 9th game & has all its games shown in local markets live on FTA & simulcast on pay ..... then RL's present lead over the fumbles n bumbles of 10 million

will grow to 20 million
wow
just wow

Only one 30 minute overlap as well as the game in isolation (Friday).

AFL
Long Live the King
the amount of each game in isolation from just the above example
Fri game 1.... 100%
Sat game 2 25%
Sat game 3 25%
Sat game 4 75%
Sat game 5 nil
Sat game 6 nil
Sun game 7 75%
Sun game 8 50%
Sun game 9 50%

the equivalent of 4 complete games in Isolation over a round.... ahhhhhh
that's not 1 game fumblers in isolation
that's
4 in total

& when the VFL has only 6 games in a shortened round probably the lot are in isolation

& as we said
the NRL has 2 each week & 1 game on delay on Sundays
pretty comparable really :-k

wow

Picking long weekend or split rounds is hardly the norm Dave. A typical AFL round has a Friday night game in isolation, 3 afternoon games where all 3 are concurrent, one being 100%, the other 2 50%, 2 Saturday night games at 100% overlap! and 3 Sunday afternoon games with 2 at 50% overlap and 1 at 100%.

Effectively each fan can only ever watch 5-6 full games per weekend. For the NRL they can watch 6-8 full games per weekend
