This article is suggesting that Collingwood may be worth 344 million US and if it was a soccer club world wide it would be ranked 14th, in front of teams like Hamburg and Man City. Its a few years old though.

Well I don't know about what Phil Gould says - I checked their website and whatever report Gould was referring to I couldn't find - seems strange that a club that owes 42 mil, regularly gets home crowds of 6-8k and has one of the lowest memberships has a higher value to the market than a club making multi mill profits each year 80k members and a home average in the 50k. Also if they were so valuable why did they struggle to find a sponsor??? - This must be taken tong in cheek considering the reporting paper is a Penrith local paper.

Fanciful article from the RL press in Sydney. As you say, the club has massive financial problems and crowds and membership numbers smaller than soccer. A good laugh though. Bit like when some RL journo suggested Canterbury Bulldogs would soon be bigger than Collingwood.
