no it doesnt. not when it's some shithouse sport like AFL.

10k expands to 100k in 10 countries. did you think of that? course you didnt.
I saw that the recent Axios championship drew 2k in Boudreaux in France - not bad considering the have only had a competition going for about 5-4 yrs.
2K eh

so ..... when you take the mandatory extra VFL zero added to bullsit their own dopey fans about their sports growth overseas
it was in fact 200
& none of them likely paid to get in
yeah
ring the bells fumblers
ring them bells =D> =D>  :(/ :(/ :(/ :_<> :_<> :_<> :_<>
Anyway hopefully someone who has an actual argument and not speculation and fantasy will post!
well most likely if they did you'd be debating with someone who could spell & be grammatically correct &.......
when they realise you're an illiterate twat like most of us have
well they'd find someone of their intellectual level to talk to

ie

not you

Only in your imagination - I really feel sorry for you RD - I know now you can't help your condition - I just hope you get the support you need!

Oh bright point, dumbarse!

And on the part you didn't quote, why isn't it 20 countries in the first place? You didn't think of that did you?

Looks like the Yanks are really interested in Fumbles & Bumbles..

A determined attempt to get Rihanna's autograph, and the ugly scuttle that ensued, may mark the end of one rugby player's career.

The Gold Coast Suns, an Australian Rugby Team, had recently finished a training trip in the United States when this incident occurred. Several players were at a bar in Los Angeles when the team was told to clear the club for Rihanna and her entourage.

According to the Herald-Sun, Suns player Steve May wanted to get back in the club to obtain an autograph from the pop star. But May was stopped by Josh Gibson, another Australian rugby player who was out with the Suns. May verbally abused Gibson, which is when his Suns teammate Campbell Brown stepped in. Brown reportedly punched May in the face, breaking his jaw.

There has been a lot of argument over the last few days about international AFL presence. I've already said that AFL has been played in 69 countries, which is 19 more than the ones that play rugby league.

But I have realised something that is a hold back for AFL outside of Australia. It's not this supposed lack of interest. It's the lack of proper facilities.

Outside of countries that play cricket, who has the right sort of oval that we can play our game on? It's a struggle. That's why having 69 countries playing the game is such a big success. This is happening in spite of this hold up. Now even in countries where cricket is played, the weather is a big factor. Take the UK for example. During the summer all the ovals are taken up by cricket. They would be available during the winter, but there is one weather event that can stop AFL. Snow. You don't get much of that in Australia in the winter. But in the UK you get plenty. Not only that, cricket lovers aren't keen on letting AFL on to their precious pitches. This is apparently not unknown even in Australia.

The other thing I notice, and this would hold back any decent crowds, is social facilities. Cricket at local level draws poorly so the facilities aren't there. It's just a matter of bringing a picnic table and (knowing the UK weather in summer) a brolly. So there is no cover and that keeps people away in the winter.

The only country that has similar conditions to Australia is New Zealand, and maybe South Africa.

The other problem with the bigger venues for cricket is that they are used as much as possible to fit in tours. The cricket season tends to be all year round, especially in the tropics in India and the West Indies.

Now in other countries there are no ovals. One of the advantages rugby league has in the US is that their field of play is the same in size and shape as an NFL field. And those are all over the place, and have facilities as well. It's not dissimilar with soccer. It's an easy task to just change the posts.

And yet, rugby league is still 19 countries short. Look at all these advantages, and yet AFL supporters in the 69 countries that play it overcome the odds and get something going. Now if RL had the same sort of determination and with these advantages I have to ask - what is their problem with expanding?

One more thing for this rant - the main reason why the IC doesn't pull crowds yet is because of the fact that no Australians are playing. Australia is the only country at present who can host the IC as it has the number of ovals available that are required. However, as more overseas players are recruited into the AFL like Aliir Aliir in the 2013 draft, the interest will increase. Both at home and overseas. We have the determination, and maybe one day the facilities will follow. And maybe one day soon, the local English AFL competition could play their grand final at The Oval.

There is a reason that the IC is played in Melb and we all know why, let me give you a hint, it isn't because of the oval shapes. Here is a reasonable website for everybody to make there own assessment of AFL outside Australia and if there is really 69 countries (remembering this is a website maintained by a AFL group or Fan, so bias, yeh probably).
It is summed up pretty well. In general allot of the countries specified are only AU expats or countries that will fold if sponsorship by Vic club or the AFL stops. Take a look at the notes or the team that have photos in Asian countries where the all players in the team photo are white as a ghost.

http://www.worldfootynews.com/staticpages/index.php/ Navigation - Countries > Country Snapshot

My conclusion,
Is AFL developing around the world outside AU, just, when AU is aloud to play in the competition and you can sell the final out in a country other then AU where the two teams are not local, then we can have a discussion about international rule.
Is there 69 recognised countries playing AFL, no way in the world. :>::

I already addressed the photo situation in speaking to Dave in the previous comment. As far as the 69 countries go, I was talking about interest in the game. This is shown - sourced - on Wikipedia. What that website has is actual competitions, and Wikipedia actually agrees in that regard. Countries that play in the IC have NO ex-pat Aussies because it's against the rules. Locals are interested, otherwise there would be no funding from the AFL!

Whilst your nit picking isn't as bad as Dave's it's still there.

No it's not, because there are 18 countries who played at the last IC and there wasn't an ex-pat in sight!!

Like Phelpsey said, you and reality - strangers.
