I disagree. Its an observation that a large proportion of RL participants in Australia are represented by an ethnic group making up a very small proportion of our population. Then an opinion that this affects potential participation from other ethnic groups. This isnt racism.

Examples:

I don't care what you think , a benign comment along the lines of ... theres a disproportionate number of islanders playing RL is not offensive
it is a fact , but be careful where you go from there

saying it is the only reason you won't watch the sport ... IS offensive & RACIST
I have warned Bearsy what I am willing to do if this isn't resolved ..... he hasn't replied to me .. he may not be around
he needs to be made aware of this incident if he isn't on hand

Swans explained his comment above and his explanation doesn't sound like "the only reason I won't watch RL is because there are so many islanders". I agree a comment like this is racist but as yet I haven't seen a quote where he said this.

hes pretty much admitted what he said here above

adding the word ... Islanders ... to the end of Australian & New Zealand is proof definitive that he considers them to be his issue with watching RL & this up coming world cup

You're stretching the truth. He qualified his comment above. As I see it he means he believes watching a game between Australia and NZ is of little interest if the Australian team is full of kiwis.

Swans was having a go at the RLWC rules that allowed Islanders play for Australia or New Zealand when they should be playing for their home country (Fiji et al). I'm trying to find the original comment but it wasn't on the thread I thought it was.

If thats the case I tend to agree.

If the English cricket team was full of Australian cricketers who moved there to play county cricket I wouldn't find a match between England and Australia overly interesting either.

he is clearly saying this in my opinion , not directly but it is heavily insinuated & that's all that is required
& as I said its nearing the time where yours .. mine .. & his .. opinion on these comments will be irrelevant shortly
they will be looked at by another organisation that deals with such matters for them to decide.

Its an interesting issue. I can see why Dave took offence because despite the fact they are islanders, if nationalised they are still Australians. However if the Australian team has a large proportion of Polynesians, far more than the proportion that actually live in Australia, I can understand why for some this doesn't really feel like a representation of our countries actual ethnic mix.

It comes down to personal views, but IMO isnt really racist. I'm sure swans likes watching the kiwis in the cricket.
