The nRL have previously held it later before, but fans hated it so the nRL changed it back. But with the new TV deal which saw the nRL further sell its soul to Channel 9 and effectively let them have full control of what games were shown and when, the grand final has been pushed back to a more TV friendly time. What a disgusting league.

You're missing the point, Dave. The AFL is competitive in the day time. Now just imagine what would happen is the AFL went to prime time! The NRL would get creamed!

no you're missing the point shit for brains
the VFL GF is up against nothing during the day .. nil .. nada .. zip !!
the NRL GF has had to compete against actual TV shows for viewers .... including in the last 5 years .. the other networks news bulletins which on average are the highest rating shows these networks have during the week
if the NRL had to compete against re runs of camping holidays in the Grampians or ... how to smoke yr haddock
it would rate probably higher then it does
theres no escaping the facts
the VFL GF just doesn't cut it

Declining? Hey? Just look at my sig pic. Does it make you mad? :D
AFL ratings and crowds are up, nRL ratings and crowds are down. And this is AFTER the nRL sold out to TV! Nothing can fox rugby league, a few more decades and it's dead.

The nRL GF starting at 5pm meant that it went into prime time you fuckwit. The Sydney Olympics was the only Olympics that rated upwards of 3m constantly on a Saturday afternoon. No other television even would ever get over 3m on a Saturday afternoon. The nRL GF would struggle to even crack 1.5m in the metros if it was played then.

The NRL gf was shown at 5-7? The Sunday news slot at 6pm is basically the highest rating period of the week. Somehow I think thats prime time.
So again, if shows on Saturday arvo rate so high because they have no competition why are none of the best ratings shows each year shown outside prime time? Because prime time is when people are home, and daytime is when they are not. EVERY program rates better in prime time, irrespective of the competition. And Sunday prime time is the biggest rather of all.
Oh its going to be extremely embarrassing for the NRL if they lose the ratings war despite the ideal time slot. :<>

I want the AFL to go to Saturday night and watch the ratings go up in that competitive environment so that Dave can shit himself big time unlike how he shits himself regularly.
