Lol at Penrif's average in nRL heartland! The arse Raiders are excused as Canberra isn't nRL heartland, but nevertheless it's still woeful that an established team like them average such a pitiful crowd.

The raiders are actually in rugby heartland, which In canberra you support both super rugby and nrl

Not much of a heartland with 10k average crowd in a market where there is only ONE competitor RU and they are getting beaten with the Brumbies average being.........14450 absolutely kicking the snot green raiders arses!

So it is more likely RU heartland!

That may be true, but the storm crowds have increased well in the past year or 2. They used to struggle to get 12k, but now they get 16-17k. NRL must be growing down there then. Maybe that storm train makes people go to the games!
Storm have two for one games just about every home game - big question is how will they go when not in finals - you'd think after their success there would be 20k average crowds but no. As for junior comps there are few clubs and it's not very well known - virtually non-existent. No one knows of the only local club in the Eastern subs and have never meet anyone affiliated with it!

but but but

swines on the decline

storm on the rise

end of shithead

Hahaha - Swans the BIGGEST club in NSW - largest crowds, largest membership, largest sponsorship - Storm smallest club in Melb, smallest crowds, smallest membership, smallest sponsorship! And it hurt don't it RD it hurt so very very much and the pain just won't end! I heard everything in the NRL is small everything!
:(/ :(/ :_<> :_<>

they're ( Swines) the premiers
& their crowds are ... down  ... on 2012
& 2012 was their worst year since 1995 :-k

the Storm are at a near 50% increase on last year =D> =D> =D>

Swines are watched by TV audiences in Sydney that would embarrass the power rangers :(/ :(/ :_<> :_<>

they are in fact
the smallest
....least followed side in Sydney

de crowds ... full of ex pat mindas with no lives , & are falling anyway
mean zip cockhead

zip
Swans crowds are up on last years average and by the end of the year will average about 30k. Another way of putting it is that Swans crowds will be up 20% this year. But keep pretending.

Very well done to the storm for nearly having more people at their game and the hawks game got 24k and the storm got 22k.

Credit where credits due - it was a great crowd for NRL - an average crowd for AFL, I have no issues with this but what will it make the Swans average which is almost 30k sensational!

You throwballers couldn't have picked a worse weekend to start this thread. But we'll get to that. The AFL has the biggest club in Sydney (and also has a 2nd team which is the smallest club in Sydney). The nRL has the smallest club in Melbourne.

Season 2013 Averages

Swans: 27,395
Storm: 16,806.

Pretty open and shut. But wait, there's more.

Season 2013 biggest crowd (thus far):

Swans: 42,627
Storm: 25,480

Another clear cut victory. But I know what you're thinking; ********* only care about % of ground capacity achieved, for reasons known only to them. Which team has achieved the biggest % of ground capacity:

Season 2013 % of ground capacity

Swans: 31,060 @ SCG (91%)
Storm: 25,480 @ AAMI (85%)

Ouch, don't even have ridiculous clutching at straws capacity % to fall back on. But we're not finished yet. Melbourne has an attendance culture, while Sydney doesn't. So the Storm have an extra advantage over the Swans, and yet the Swans have somehow ALTERED the attendance culture of its fans to become the biggest club in Sydney, while the Storm have failed to take advantage of the pre-existing attendance culture of Melbourne and still languish at the bottom. To illustrate this, let's look at the current average attendances in both cities. Now some of these teams have played more games than others, but it gives a fair indicator nonetheless.

Sydney average attendances 2013

Swans: 27,395
Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs 20,939
Sydney Roosters 20,165
South Sydney Rabbitohs 17,532
Cronulla-Sutherland 13,708
Manly-Warringah 13,434
Parramatta 12,855
St George Illawarra Dragons 12,575
Wests Tigers 11,413
Penrith Panthers 10,862
GWS: 9,440

Melbourne average attendance 2013

Collingwood 57,578
Essendon 51,625
Richmond 50,236
Carlton 44,579
Geelong 40,351
Hawthorn 35,108
St Kilda 31,719
North Melbourne 26,843
Western Bulldogs 22,680
Melbourne 22,621
Storm 16,806

Swans the biggest club in Sydney, Storm the smallest club in Melbourne. They're the premiers, and they couldn't even get a higher attendance than the Demons.

And to illustrate things perfectly, we have this current round. Throwballers were shouting from the rooftops that their top of the table clash in Melbourne was fantastic, really sticking it to the AFL. lol, wat?

Melbourne crowds this weekend

Richmond v Brisbane - 46,961 (the sleeping giant is awake)
Carlton vs Bulldogs - 31,126
Saints v Hawthorn - 24,765
Storm v Rabbitohs - 21,244

That's right. Literally the smallest crowd in Melbourne this weekend. How about in Sydney? How did the Swans fare?

Sydney Crowds this weekend

Sydney vs Collingwood - 42,627
Roosters v Raiders - 13,223
Parra v Tigers - 12,013
Sharks v Knights - 11,358

Not only do the Swans have the biggest crowd for the round, they also have a bigger crowd than all three nRL games combined. They got TRIPLE the crowd of the next biggest crowd thus far. The Swans are everything you wish the Storm were and more. But I know how your little minds work. You don't like talking about the Swans, and I don't blame you. After all, they are currently and have been the biggest club in Sydney for 18 years (soon 19) in a row. You like low hanging fruit. "Let's go after GWS" you think eagerly. And yes, GWS have smaller average crowds than all nRL teams in Sydney. But here's the rub: in that respect, they're exactly like the Storm. Your only team in Melbourne. Your premiers. lol.

I agree with you, but with a bit of researching, only in 2012 they had an average 12k and this year it's 16-17k. So in one year, somehow, they've attracted 4-5k more people. That's strong improvement from any perspective. Seeing as Sydney had a reasonable head start, and the NRLs stubbornness to put storm games clashing with big games at the g, it's fare to see that it's simple that Sydney get bigger crowds. I saw some people in Victoria who were going to the AFL and I said why don't you go to the storm game? Most either said they never heard of them or they would but it collides with their footy. If the NRL put this idea to reschedule as many storm games as possible to not collide with their obvious choice of AFL, they might get a few more in the turnstiles

What are you talking about Storm all the time schedule their games so its straight after an AFL game and if you show your AFL ticket to the G you get in for free - The Storm are doing well no doubt about that - and if you look back further you will see they were getting 20k crowds BUT that in Melb it is only an average crowd nothing to write home about - remember Melb Vic get 40+ crowds regularly and have 40k members - so it's not about code wars in Melb and believe it or not no one deliberately goes about bagging the NRL - in fact as I have states many times AFL shows no animosity towards the Storm like the NRL and its fans have and do show towards the Swans and GWS - SEN is the AFL's own radio station in Melb - it has a Storm hour and regularly has players in for interviews, try getting that with AFL in Syd - instead we get this repetitive garbage that RD, Eels and Parra spew forth criticising every aspect of AFL and AF. Jackyboy you sound as thou you may have half a brain - please don't turn into utter filth like those three - they are cowards who can't admit when their wrong and hide behind their anonymity! No one really hates NRL but we just get sick of hearing how shit AFL is from morons who are pissed off that their game outside of NSW and QLD does not hold the same position as it does with them and their brain dead friends! Anyway I hope this clears up the perspective of the AFL fans on this forum.

True, nor should you - Storm as I said are doing well - no doubt Swans had a head start - however I don't think the Storm ever faced the outright hostility from AFL as the Swans faced from the NRL and still do! In that aspect alot of the RL posters display their clear resentment of AFL because thats what the NRL want - me I would think it boring if I lived in a country where only one sport is played like some soccer only countries - maybe thats why this country is so great!
