Bathurst now has 2 jounior aussie rules clubs..the 'bathurst giants' to join the local league this year. Great news all round!

A BATTLE could be brewing between the newly formed Bathurst Giants junior AFL club and the Bathurst Bushrangers after it was confirmed this week that the Giants’ push into the Central West competition would go ahead.

At this stage it appears that the new club will field teams in the under 12s, 15s and 17s competitions, leaving the Bushrangers to try and put together sides of their own after having most of their junior base join the Giants.

Reading the article what I can gather is that the bushrangers were seen as neglecting the juniors so the giants were formed as a junior club ... In protest I assume. They hope to field 2 teams in each age group. They also hope to be a feeder club to the bushranger senior sides. So from what I can see it is not really growth but a split of the juniors away from the seniors. The bushrangers are still hoping to field a junior side however.
