The NRL is not the story here, it is Essendon football club that has come out after a whistle blower threatened to talk. This is not the front foot merely a snake in sheep's clothing buddy........

The NRL welcomed the investigation and have fully complied, and have also setup a NRL integrity unit to boot. The fact that the AFL did not join the Wada doping council years after the rest of the codes is proof Mr Demetruio knows that Doping exists in the AFL and only after the government decided to take away funding did they fold........all does not look good for the AFL especially.

A COMPANY who supplied Fremantle with supplements was fined more than $3 million for importing unregistered substances in 2012, according to The Age.

Export Corporation, whose parent company Nurtrition Systems was a Freo sponsor from 2008 to 2009, was reportedly found guilty of 35 unlawful importations between 2007 and 2008.

"It is believed the company's supplements were not extensively used during the period," the report says.

AFL.com.au is not suggesting any Fremantle players have used illegal substances or were supplied them by Nutrition Systems.

Nutrition Systems was fined for 35 separate imports of substances not listed on the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods. Included in the haul were supplements that increased muscle growth.


It follows another series of big developments:
- Fairfax Media alleged that Essendon footballers were injected in their stomachs by sacked Bombers official Stephen Dank last season as well as being intravenously fed supplements at a botox clinic. It has also been alleged that a club doctor was not always present during these times.
- Dank is reported to be a part owner in a clinic based in Sydney that sells peptides online.
- AFLPA chief Matt Finnis said players were being used as guinea pigs
- A former footballer told Fairfax Media it is easy to get around doping tests

On Wednesday morning, the Australian Crime Commission released an explosive report into the use of performance enhancing drugs in Australian sport. The 12-month investigation found sport had been infiltrated by organised crime. It also found strong evidence of banned substance use among multiple athletes in multiple codes.

NSW Premier Barry O'Farrell has called on the NRL to name and shame players from the six clubs at the heart of the doping and match fixing scandal.

It follows new revelations that the Australian Crime Commission report is centred mainly on rugby league.

Smith's move came as the The Sunday Telegraph learned last night that six clubs were central to the investigation. Pressure from senior government officials is also mounting over the scandal that has rocked Australian sport - and, in particular, the NRL.

MATCH fixing and illicit drug connections within the NRL are the report's main focus - and authorities are anxious for NRL bosses to reveal the names of clubs under suspicion;

THE NRL convinced other codes to appear at last Wednesday's press conference in Canberra, even though the other sports are far less implicated in the report;

X, BOTH the NRL AND the AFL have the "multiple club" shadow hanging over them. Raid says it'll be 10 to 1 towards AFL. I say it'll be 1 to 1. Equal problem across both codes. There is nothing to say anything else at the moment except media speculation slanted in a biased manner either way you like! WADA is relevant because the AFL has said their policy is BETTER than WADA's and yet this STILL happened!
