You can only imagine how low the Storm's FTA ratings would be if they were in bad form and had their matches simulcast on Fox.
similarly .. the Swines d head
Currently the Storm's ratings are lower than the Swans despite the Swans matches being simulcast live in HD and ad free on Foxtel. I'd say the Swans would easily be over 50,000 viewers in front of the Storm every match.

No they aren't you imbecile. They are well behind the Swans current FTA figures and they are affected by simulcasted matches on Foxtel.

Swans > Cheats in every aspect. =D>

the storms crowds havent grown in 15yrs of success. why the hell would their ratings improve? Its not as if people havent seen the storm on TV before.

yep, really scared when the storm cant grow during great success, and struggling AFL expansion teams 1-2 years old get double their ratings!

The average of the Storms live games into Melbourne was 27k. The Giants averaged 32k plus more for foxtel.

Giants>>>>>>>Storm

Unfortunately we will only be able to work out how many people are watching the Storm in Melbourne when they are on Gem and the Storm usually end up on Pay TV for some reason which is short sighted by the NRL/9 for growing the game in Melbourne. To increase the melbourne viewers/support for non big event RL viewing they should have made every storm game live on FTA TV into Melbourne. They should have also given the raiders a similar deal. A small error on the behalf of the Commision (IMO) because it wouldnt have cost them that much money from the TV deal to do so and it would have resulted in a long term benifit.

Just saw an AFL commercial, and channel 7 is advertising AFL on Channel 7 and 7Mate

Last year, they aired a promo which only showed 7mate, guess channel 7 is finally promoting AFL to it's main channel up here :)

YEah!H!H!H
Haven't seen a similar ad in Sydney as yet. Hopefully a good sign for us Sydneysiders too. Can't believe how many viewers Channel 7 have lost due to putting the footy on their secondary channel 7mate. Still live footy is better than delayed no matter what channel it is on.

That's just embarrassing for the NRL, and the storm are currently playing it's finest, so this is most likely the best they will ever do

Imagine the ratings if they drop down the ladder

Might get in the single digits

They actually did for some games! But yeah, when they finally drop down the ladder they may consistently get ratings and crowds in the single thousands!

1) For ratings Saturday Afternoon < Sunday evening (and from this year onwards Sunday night). Hardly apples and apples.
2) why do nRL fans cite not being on the main channel as reason for poor ratings in Melbs, but ignore the fact that the AFL isn't on the main channel either in its expansion states.
3) The Storm has had an unparralelled period of success, and in this time has absoluteley failed to grow crowds and ratings. In what possible way is their overtaking the Swans a certainty? When Cronk Smith and Slater retire they are utterly clunged. And before people start yammering about the cap scandal, i'll remind them that crowds actually ROSE after the scandal, which acted as a rallying call for Storm fans.

Good to see 7 promoting the sport on the main channel. With the digital switchover happening this year i'd expect multichannel ratings to increase, and 7 know that live sport is as good a drawcard as any to attract new viewers.
