Hmmm, 481 is 24 new teams.... =D>

Or at 10 teams per club around 2.4 clubs.

Isnt that 25% of Victoria's entire RL club count? :lol: :lol: :lol:

most VFL teams have 25 to 30 players
not 20
so thats about 18 sides

18 teams in all age groups ..across all of NSW & the ACT... from Tweed Heads to Eden

7.7 Million people
thats less then 1 new team a.. league across the entire NSW/ACT area .... in all age groups

by comparison ...junior RL in the ACT region is increasing by 1 junior team .. per club .. per year
& theres 24 clubs in this area
And like all groups in country nsw ... we've had no money spent down here
wait til we do . we'll run the singlet wearers ...straight outta town :wink:

no wonder the V FL was told things are grim
as they certainly are :cool:

18 players in an AFL team plus 2 on the bench. They don't need 30 players a team! :roll:

So the AFL in NSW grew an equivalent of around 25% of Victoria RL club total in 1 year! =D>

And this doesn't take into account the massive increase in Auskick for which RL has no equivalent in Victoria.

a club would have a few reserves each team. If the senior reserves are injured they draw from the seconds. The seconds draw from the 18s.

No team needs 30 players :roll: with no injury that would be 20 senior players doing nothing :roll:

New international television deal

Rugby League has secured a new international television deal that will guarantee access to key markets including the UK, USA, Asia and the Pacific.

The five-year agreement with IMG Media will ensure fans overseas have world-wide access to all Telstra Premiership matches as well as State of Origin, Test matches played in Australia, AAMI City-Country and the Harvey Norman All Stars.

The partnership covers free-to-air television, subscription television, IPTV, mobile, in-ship, in-flight and gaming rights, as well as access to the NRL Films archive, and will provide international fans with:

• Guaranteed television coverage in key markets including the UK, USA, Asia, and Pacific;

• Access to all games in HD either through television or online platforms, as well as access to a 30-minute weekly highlights show;

• A free digital NRL Channel for international fans featuring match vision and a mobile NRL app;

• All NRL and State of Origin matches available on a live or near-live basis via television or online, mobile applications, smart TVs or other media platforms;

• International fans in regions where there is no TV or IPTV rights deals in place will be able to access matches for free on a leading web destination, such as YouTube or USTREAM.

“What’s exciting for Rugby League fans around the world is that we now have in place a range of different options for them to watch matches across television and digital mediums,” NRL Interim Chief Executive, Mr Shane Mattiske, said.

“To have guaranteed television exposure in key markets such as the UK, USA and Pacific is really significant for growing the game’s international exposure.

“As IMG Media finalises deals in markets around the world we will be able to confirm the processes in which fans will be able to tune in to watch all the excitement of the Telstra Premiership and the best representative contests in sport, including State of Origin.”

Mr Chris Guinness, Senior Vice-President, Head of Asia Pacific, IMG Media, said IMG Media was committed to increasing Rugby League coverage across international markets.

“We are very excited about extending our relationship with the NRL over the next five years,” he said.

“The relationship has evolved from traditional international TV distribution to a complete 360 degree involvement covering all aspects of the NRL’s international media assets and we look forward to working closely with the NRL in this new exciting era.”

The international rights do not include NRL properties in Australia and New Zealand, nor do they include World Cup matches or Tests overseas.

Most international rights deals will be in place before the start of the 2013 Telstra Premiership season.

IMG Media is a division of IMG Worldwide, a global sports, fashion and media business with nearly 3,000 employees operating in more than 30 countries.

Participation grows in NZ for third year in a row

NZRL NRL.com Thu, Dec 20, 2012 - 8:00 AM

For the third year in a row, New Zealand Rugby League has seen an increase in registered player numbers. Since the 2009 review, the game has worked with its clubs and Zones to ensure that all players are registered and at the end of 2010 the NZRL reported an increase of 52% over the previous year with more than 24,000 registered players. Areas which had experienced significant increases at the time included Manawatu, Taranaki, and the upper North Island as a whole.

In December 2011 numbers were up again, a further 38% on the previous year’s total, taking registered player numbers to 33,500. Doyle said then that the most pleasing aspect of the increase was the number of young players coming into the game who would benefit from the new NZRL pathway.

Since then a number of NZRL programmes have become well established, including the Community Carnivals, the National Competition, Hearts and High Performance camps and elite youth teams, with players having a clear pathway to the highest levels of the game in NZ.

These and a number of initiatives which have seen more young people than ever playing the game at school, in conjunction with the National Secondary Schools tournament – 16 schools in 2011, and 24 schools in 2012 - are considered key to the continued growth of the game.

NZRL CEO Jim Doyle said “With better reporting and improved programmes now well established, we knew growth would slow so to see a further increase is very pleasing. Player numbers for the 2012 season were 35,788 (+7%) with the most positive growth again in the Mini-Mod (6-12 years) age group. That’s where you’d hope to find it, as more young people make Rugby League their sport of choice. =D> =D> =D> =D> =D>

“We have development programmes for everyone from our players to coaches, trainers and managers and this encourages families to get involved. Parents can come to a Community Carnival and while their kids are having fun, the parents are enjoying the free Rugby League Fundamentals programme.

“Our players are offered opportunities to develop as people and as athletes and we are now expanding our League 4 Life Club Development programme (previously a pilot) which assists local clubs to improve their on field and off field facilities, sideline behaviour and community involvement.

“The game is being recognised as a leader in many areas including youth development, it’s culture, and for our pathways and we will be continuing that good work. While the percentage increases will stabilise I am confident we’ll continue to see steady year on year growth as more of our clubs meet our standards and even more families hear about all the great work being done across the game.”

Oh Yeah RL growing gangbusters in NZ.
