Hawthorn and the kangaroos play games in Tasmania. They sacrifice 15-20k a game for this expansion. There are also less local derbies because teams are more spread through the country.

Something the NRl know little about,

Its the truth.between Hawthorn and the kangas they play an entire home game season in Tasmania where the crowds are half they are in Melbourne, because of stadium sizes. Play this in Melbourne and the average is higher again.

Add less local derbies ver all and the average and total will always drop. This is evident given the memberships actually went up!

The only reason those two clubs went higher was because they were drawing on crowds from drawing clubs! I'll bet the crowds are always below 25,000 for the poor drawing games! Which CAN be played at Visy Park as they should be!

It is when the total average drops, X! Which was Raid's point!

Take Hawthorn's or North's crowds for their matches against Collingwood or Carlton and you'll get my point!

No, hawthorn get regular crowds of 35-40k for non local derbies, and 50-80 for local derbies. They get 15k in Tasmania.

Good point and no doubt the government is fully aware of that fact. Where to now for Penrith, Manly, Cronulla etc, etc? Hmm, more mergers on the cards and more disillusioned fans no doubt. Only have themselves to blame though.
The AFL has already done this in Victoria with the MCG and Etihad..................wow what a hypocrite of the highest order............its called Governments cutting budgets you simpleton.....  ](*,) ](*,)
Yeah, because their suburban crowds were bursting at the seems and their crowds at larger centralised venues like the MCG were huge.

Look at the NRLs crowds at ANZ!
Funny, when my team plays at ANZ, their crowd average is actually double what they get a Parramatta.

Seems moving some games to ANZ works eh?

I mean, Parramatta haven't been very good over the last few seasons, yet their average at ANZ for H/A is near 32k.

Finals at the same ground for the same team are at 58,246 with at least half the games played against out of state teams.

Anyway, BeAurther was about a week late with this thread and as I said yesterday in another, my team is moving no where (outside 1 season) and will be playing in an upgraded brand new Parramatta stadium.

As you were.

Yeah that's the eels with one off games. What about all the other NRL sides who get 12k at ANZ?

Since 1997, 15 of Hawthorn's 19 lowest home crowds in Victoria and Tasmania have come from playing in Tasmania, with 2 coming from the now abandoned Waverley Park and one coming from Docklands, a ground which they rarely if ever play at anymore.

When GWS play at ANZ, their average is quad triple their average crowd at Skoda Stadium.

Seriously Parra you're delusional if you think ANZ will be good for nRL teams. How many Penrith fans will venture to the ground on a cold and raining Monday night when only 5,000 will bother to turn up to their own home ground in this situation?

It won't be good for all NRL teams, it'll be good for teams in the West and that's it.

Parra will play at their own ground and play a few a year at ANZ against teams like the Dogs, Souffs and Dragons.

The only team I can see having problems is Manly, but they're blue bloods so something will eventually be done for them (could take a while though).
