The AFL GF is always a sellout, meaning the available tickets always sellout

With AFL membership and ticket sale use to make the same amount of money as the last TV deal. Now it would be behind by quite a bit but it would still make up I estimate about 25% of the AFL revenue.

Do you really expect us to swallow this BS dave. The leagues clubs and the footy clubs are different entities you fool.Take this away and all your clubs lose money.Your dear little club is a joke.10000 members in a city of 500000 i.Come and see us when your club can make a million dollar profit without pokies like the Kangaroos. No stadium,no fans,no success canberra is no bigger than port melbourne in the VFA.You value a company on turn over and reach dave the ability to raise funds. The NRL is truly in the AFL's shadow when you weigh up these simple facts.Hundreds of millions behind. And read the PDF dave Raiders group has 19 million in liabilities fact.See the problem is you want to confuse the owners with the club.Lets use chelsea as an example.Abromovic one of the richest men in the world and his group one of the most profitable but chelsea have made a loss every year. Now we dont consider the blues a profitable club just because its owner makes money.Same as league. The leagues clubs make money the football club does not. They are second rate operations playing out of second rate venues surviving on the grubbiest income of all.Like all decent people I hope the scourge of the poker machine is coming to an end but I suppose most league types dont mind seeing the poor reamed so they stay afloat.

Additional Gabba ticketing information
2012 Gabba ticket prices
Ticket Type General Admission Standard Prime Premium Gold Class
Adult $25.50 $37.00 $50.00 $61.00 $105.00
Concession* $17.50 $30.00 $42.00 $54.00 NA
Child** $8.00 $10.00 $10.00 $10.00 NA
Family*** $51.00 $74.00 $100.00 $122.00 NA
http://www.lions.com.au/match%20tickets ... fault.aspx
At least an average of $20 and thats counting that half the people at the game are kids, which I am sure they probabaly are not. I also believe that the loss included servicing of debt. This is from the brisbane lions website.
The figure resulted after depreciation and interest costs, predominantly relating to our Club’s major long-term investment, the LIONS@springwood entertainment venue.
http://www.lions.com.au/news/newsarticl ... fault.aspx
So the 600K interest wold be included into the 2.5 million dollar loss. That is of course if you believe them which I believe Dave you probabaly dont.

... remember theres still 12K empty seats in 30K crowd at the gabba & the cheap seats go first , 2/3 would b the cheapest category
& then theres freebies .... the VFL hand out thousands in the Nthn states ... bringing gate receipts down
the average price of a seat would as I said .. be barely $15
X 10,000 X 11.....still a 1.6 Million loss with a big upturn in success , which is unlikely to occur
debt grows to 11 Million in 2014

Oh pies, me thinks you're gunna be eating those words come september 2013. While there's plenty of basketcases the lions can beat to notch some wins up, they will remain positioned between 11-18 on the ladder. And please note that 11th in the AFL these days is akin to about 16th in days gone by...such is the lopsided nature of the present comp.

Have to agree to disagree on this one. I actually think the average seat would cost about $25 (averaging adults and kids), but I thought I would go with the cheaper end to stop any fighting. Even if we went with your $15 pricing. The average person would probabaly spend $10+ on food per match ($5 profit) and $25 dollars a year on merchandise ($20 profit). which would make up $550000+ for food and $200000 on caps/gurneys/scarfs/footy records etc bought at the games.

Often I am left looking stupid after making a prediction. Wont be the first or last time it will happen. What you can say it that I have watched the Lions this year and my guess has a little education behind it. They beat 2 top 4 sides in Brisbane this year and have some good young talent. They should improve but you could have said the same about Melbourne last year as well.
