Thanks to folk like you the NRL now has the biggest tv deal in Aus sporting history.

In what way is the NRL more successful than the AFL?King-Eliagh wrote:Oh dont listen to them Helen, there's always a bunch of whingers out there. You'll find just as many if not more AFL fans who claim new tactics and rulings in the AFL comp have ruined the game and that its boring now. They're not worth listening to unless they're talking about the blanket ruling introduced to reduce violence.
Both codes are extremely successful, with RL prob having the edge over marngrook of late... and we should be happy about this. In terms of organisational vision and ethics the NRL is lightyears ahead of the AFL...and we shouldnt be happy about this.

SOO racist coach. NRL failing to act on racist fans. Players giving female media sexual insults. Players biting each other.King-Eliagh wrote:Well perhaps the organisational vision was being a bit rich but ethically the AFL has had several fairly shameful incidents of racism and connections to abusive child labour this year, **** other things.
Overall audience? Well we all know that when you add the massive regional pops of nsw and qld that the nrl monsters the AFL in total audience, year in year out.
With the AFL now being available live nationally for every game and 4 FTA games into NSW and QLD, have we seen a decline in nRL ratings? Even with the nRL being live on Gem into football states, it doesn't seem as if they have helped the nRL's poor ratings. I think the nRL has peaked on television and that boring grand final will not help their cause.Xman wrote:SOO racist coach. NRL failing to act on racist fans. Mmmm nRL, Lilly white!![]()
As far as national audience, I know you tend to keep away from the TV ratings thread KE, but maybe you should have a look. The AFL had the highest rating GF, the highest rating FTA game, the highest rating finals, the highest rating PayTV games, and will easily win the cumulative ratings count. And these include your regional audiences.
Please feel free to have another go though..

Rather with more and more Victorians starting to watch real football is the brain washing starting to wear off? Are the mushrooms finally starting to venture into the real world.
I'd love to hear about how channel 7 fudge their figures...pussycat wrote:With 4 of top of the top 5 sporting shows in the country , Ch7 needing to fudge their ratings to continue to be competitive in the ratings, the AFL needing to rely on PTV figures from finals matches to finish with ratings ahead of regular season NRL matches and having to rely on 3 extra matches on PTV , 1 and a bit extra matches on FTA, as well as Ch 7's fudged ratings figures, I think it's pretty safe to think not.
