Wow. So lemme get this straight. Was it 900 odd k watching in melbourne? Why that's...that's one in five melbournians sitting down with their family on a sunday evening devouring RL.

1 in 5! So basically we're talking every third household on the street, all sitting, eyes glued to their screens, utterly ingesting RL!!! This is quite astounding and the "but but but's" of the AFL goons in here just does'nt go near to explaining the phenomenal support. The sheer numbers of melbournians lapping up their league. 800k watched the game in Melbourne this year. In 2006 900k watched. Not sure how a drop of 100k people is a 'boom'? But in any case, what I find rich is the fact that throwballers are eager to claim code supremacy off of the GF, and completely ignore the larger sample size of - oh - every single game in the regular season.

I also note that the Victory had a crowd of 42,000 last night. For the record that's almost 10,000 more people than the highest Storm crowd ever (which was a preliminary final btw). But keep telling us the GF ratings have nothing to do with Melbourne's superior love of sport.
