I can get more stills from the vid that shows more people where congregated at the goalpost ends at the Giants game than the wings if I get time and while i'm at it I get some more that show a better indication of seating for the crowd at the south v raiders game.

Why worry?

There is a lot of empty orange chairs for a supposedly nearly half filled stadium at the GWS first home home at the new ground.

I would say pretty patchy all around :^o
Yeah, pretty patchy at the ends, just like I said!

You're on a roll!

I was at the game and i'd have to say the stadium was about half full. For such an event im happy to say i was there. But to think the event was a success would be to think wrong. Essendon supporters half filled the joint and the stadium itself was only half full. So about 5-6k GWS fans and i'd say half of them were there for the novelty factor...you can do the math. On top of that the game was a shocker really and only interesting for 'half' of its life, if that. We can only hope the AFL are taking note and learning from their 'experiment'. Darwin preferably, or Tassie were most likely the better options but yes Sydney is the marketable choice...it just dont look like that early on now does it.

The truth is a bitter pill to swallow. For some, like Xman, its easier just to turn on the box and "watch shows simply because there's nothing better on".

KE,

So should have the AFL packed up the Sydney Swans and returned them to Melbourne after their first 6 games at home when they were only averaging 5-6K. Who knows what the future holds for the Giants. They might average 50K a game in Sydney in 30 years time or they might be moved to Canberra in 2 years time. The NRL supporters will tell you they have no chance of success and the AFL supporters will tell yo give them time (apart from the crazy ones who say NRL will be dead in 5 years time at the hands of GWS/Swans).

Nup,

As i said pies, GWS is the marketable option. And in time I believe they'll be successful in terms of support etc. There's close on 5 million people in syd so plenty of room and folk to support marngrook and RL. I'm just stating it as it is, right now, no spin, just the facts.

So the giants have averaged bout 9-11k per home game, and most are there for the novelty factor?

That's a lot of novelty factor after 5 or so home games.

So you went to the game..............
Half full.............that makes for well over 11k. attendance.
So the Giants drew the equivalent of an nrl crowd.
Yes, that's a little dissappointing.
