Your the one speaking for millions. I'm simply stating the facts, more aussie fams sit down in front of their box, together with beer chippies and other goodies, to just love watching SOO than the AFL Gf. Them's the facts Xman. And dont you just hate it!

No I'm not. I'm saying just because people watch the show doesn't mean they love it. Thats what youre saying and i know for a fact that is incorrect. If they did they would watch most of the games. The SOO is a one off ratings event for RL and is more about a state v state battle than RL.
As for last years figures, that's last year. We already know the AFL are up in the ratings by 37% this year and are way ahead of the NRL, so according to your criteria, more Australians love AFL.

Forget AFL, Super Rugby or even the A-League, the biggest rival to the NRL competition is State of Origin.
Origin has become so big that it may actually be harmful to the NRL.
Since Queensland's controversial 18-10 win last Wednesday night, six NRL matches have been played and Sydney Roosters host Canterbury tonight but many people either don't know or don't care.
Origin is a monster that is growing bigger every year but that is happening at the expense of the NRL competition.
"State of Origin is in competition with the NRL for the seven or eight weeks from when the teams for Game I are named until the end of the series," one club CEO told WSM. "We are in competition during that period for players, for fans and for space in the media."
It is a competition the NRL clubs are losing - to an even greater extent than NSW has been beaten by Queensland for the past six years.
Crowds were down across the board last weekend, with just 12,756 attending Saturday night's Dragons-Eels match at WIN Jubilee Stadium and 11,844 watching Sunday's Penrith-Manly clash at CentreBet Stadium.
These are the type of games between Sydney clubs that would be played at either ANZ Stadium or Alliance Stadium under a proposal the ARL Commission is considering because they are considered to big for suburban grounds.
Wests Tigers managed a crowd of just 13,059 for their first game of the season at Campbelltown Stadium on Sunday against the in-form Cowboys, while South Sydney have more season ticket holders than the 10,054 fans who watched them beat Canberra on Friday night.
Television ratings were also down from earlier in the season, with 350,000 Sydney viewers watching Channel Nine's Friday night coverage and 338,000 tuning into Sunday's delayed Tigers-Cowboys match.

Exactly what I've been saying! SOO is good but it's detrimental to the NRL season. People are more interested in the state v state rivalry than RL.

Shocking argumentation here Xman. Just woeful. People lap up the SOO, they love it! Your argument within my signature is little more than the ramblings of an old hobo. Your argument that the ratings are not indicative of the love for RL in this country is even more absurd. Correct me if I'm wrong but NSW vs QLD isnt a chess game, it's RL they're playing out there on that field.
If the AFL are up by the end of the year in total tv ratings I'll happily change my tune (as long as the regionals are fairly represented in the figures). But for now we must go on last years stats and more Aussie families sat down to tune in to amd love their RL than marngrook :D Them's the facts Xman :D :D

They were only down by the 10m or so which is effectively the collective audience of the SOO. The AFL is up 37% this year which will result in an increase of around 45m. It won't be close.
But your argument that tv ratings prove people love a product is ridiculous. It takes just a passing interest in something for someone to flick on the tv and sit down in front of the box. Love is shown by attending the game, becoming a member, spending some of your hard earned!

Xman your argument, apart from going downhill 24/7 also goes both ways. It takes just a passing interest for a melbournian tobecome a 1-3 game member and turn up to two games a season. A passing interest, but we cant quantify those numbers who really arent that into the games now can we? We can quantify which code is more popular and therefore clearly make the correlation it is loved by more aussie families on its grandest stage, now cant we?
Yep we sure can and its RL on top of the country, more loved by Australian families!
And wont you try and say anything your baked bean brain can come up with to deny it!
Read my signature again matey...brother please

The crowds prove the memberships!

the vast majority are full members because the average of each team is approximately the size of their membership. Compare this to the NRL.
But if you are seriously comparing levels of interest between changing the channel on the tv remote and attending a match and paying a membership subscription youre the biggest dunce on earth!

Nope I'm not comparing those things you say. I'm stating the bleeding obvious. And that is:
* insert drum roll
RL on its greatest stage, the SOO, is loved and watched by more Aussie families, not once, not twice but THRICE a year, :D more than Marngrook on its grandest stage.
That's the bleedin obvious my dear Xman, and doesnt it rub salt into your eyeballs to see its true!
Take it on the chin mate, you'll be more a man for it.

Wow now with ricky at the helm the blue army believe.... adding seats to ANZ to accommodate people well done NSW. I think its high time to give NSW 2 home games next year for the first time in 7 years what you think guys?

The rush for tickets has resulted in ANZ Stadium increasing capacity to 83,999 by swinging in seats used only occasionally since the 2000 Sydney Olympics.
I was going to get tickets to this game dammit.

Looks like there may still be tickets left there eel? In any case its certainly all the buzz here in sydney town, the city with the most aussie families, a city in love with RL. Head over heels :D

You silly goofball. Havent you been reading this thread? There's evidence a plenty, cold hard numbers which prove it. Why would i bother proving it again so ol bakedbeanbrain Xman's memory can be refreshed.

You haven't presented evidence showing all 3 games of the SOO beat all AFL games each year. So you haven't proven shite!

Ok well if the third game is a dead rubber then it doesnt rate so well and MAY be beaten by an AFL GF. But really why should it? The series is over.
There you happy now?
