The current Australian cricket team has 3 Victorians. That's 1/4 of the team. As far as I'm aware Victoria's population is about 1/4 of Australia.enarelle wrote:Victoria is under represented versus NSW. Over the last thirty years these has been twice as many test cricketers from NSW versus Vic. When it comes to cricket captains well 4 versus none. For every one Vic soccer player who made the Socceroos there are 8 from NSW. Are the names Cahill,Neill,Kewell,Emerton,Schwarzer etc familiar - all from NSW
You might be familiar with names like Thorpe,Hackett,Jones,O'Neill,Magnusson,Rice - not a Vic in sight.

3 of the top 10 ranked male Australian tennis players are from Victoria. 4of the top 10 females are from Victoria. That's 30% and 40%, well over represented given Victoria has 25% of the countries population.
Note only 2 of the top 10 Australian females are from NSW, well under represented for 30% of the national population.

5 of the top 12 ranked Australian male golfers are from Victoria. That's 42% so well over represented.

Re: Ban NRL from Etihad stadium?
What so Matthew Wade is a Victorian? Victoria has such trouble getting junior cricketers that its Shield team is taking on more and more non Vic eg Wade(TAS),Hastings(NSW),Hussey(WA) etc South Australia has a similar problem
Over the last 30 years NSW has produced twice as many Test cricketers as Vic.
I am not sure what the surprise is given the focus on AFL and the high number of juniors.

ARs has an equal focus In Victoria as it has in all AFL states like SA WA and Tasmania.enarelle wrote:What so Matthew Wade is a Victorian? There certainly have been a large number of NSW international cricketers. Not surprising seeing many of the selectors are also from this state. It borders on incestuous at times.

Re: Ban NRL from Etihad stadium?
Firstly who of the current test selectors are from NSW apart from the captain when on tour? Mickey Arthur? John Inverarity? About a lame a claim as you can get.

So you want us to believe that Cricket Australia and the selecters have chosen The Waugh brothers, Glen Mcgrath, Mickeal Clark just because they were from NSW

http://www.foxsports.com.au/cricket/aus ... 6173123072The Blue Baggers seem to forget that no New South Welshman has occupied a spot on the national selection panel since John Benuad way back in 1994. But, like all good conspiracy theories, the facts in this case do nothing but get in the way of a good story.
Yep nothing like a good conspiricy started by our jealouse southern cousins, if you cant earn a spot on merit then lets try and lie and cheat our way into the team.

I never said current selectors.enarelle wrote:Firstly who of the current test selectors are from NSW apart from the captain when on tour? Mickey Arthur? John Inverarity? About a lame a claim as you can get.

So you've shown that cricket and soccer are under represented in Victoria. I've shown tennis and golf are over represented. Got anything else? :P

Re: Ban NRL from Etihad stadium?
VIc is and has been under represented in all the major team sports because of their focus on one sport.

The stupid nrl state of boredom cannot even work out what State players are from. Inglis is born in NSW yet plays for QLD and then you got these myriad of Islander of players that play for Australia one minute and then Tonga, Samoa or NZ the next! Talk about having identity problems in the nrl!

Hardly. His broad statement has been shot to pieces with victoria being over represented in sporting examples like golf and tennis.King-Eliagh wrote:Xman's coppin a belting...again!

Re: Ban NRL from Etihad stadium?
You were wrong with your cricket evidence, logic would have it you're wrong with your tennis and golf shamcky talk. And 30%, if that is the figure, is hardly "well over represented".Its clear you're clutching at straws and exaggerating your case Xman

The golf and tennis links are there for all to see. Victoria are well placed in both sports. Do you have evidence to the contrary?King-Eliagh wrote:You were wrong with your cricket evidence, logic would have it you're wrong with your tennis and golf shamcky talk. 30% representation from 25% of the countries population is certainly not under represented, which was the accusation, is it?
