Someone else I know had to pay $70 for entry yesterday too. It's ridiculous and the Swans ought to get compensation from the SCG Trust as this is the second redevelopment of the ground during the AFL season that is adversely affecting our gate receipts.

... so not enough $2.50 jobs eh ?
15,000 empty seats yesterday .. its usually 20,000 .. so its not an argument.
try getting near the SCG's present capacity before putting yr hand out .....

Err and about 1/3rd of the scg stands are missing.
The AFL aren't worried about some arbitrary figure like crowd averages. Why would they? You would never expand if that was the case. But they have and now more people than ever are watching the game across all parts of the country. =D> =D> =D>
but but butting along is Xman
the VFL arn't worried eh ?
the VFL W@nk themselves silly .. proclaiming to the world it has the 3rd highest average attendance in the world for professional sport
that'll be lucky to be top 10 the way its going
who said they HAD to expand
they hit the limit of places they could go effectively ... in their very limited world ... & they never had the talent pool to do it anyway with more cr@p teams then ever
they are now just making it up as they go along ... excusing this ... excusing that
the VFL's time has passed ... its ova
popular in Victoria ... meh in the other **** states ... hardly rating a raised eye brow in the Nthn states

Total way up! :D
NRLs total down steadily for the last 6 yrs. :D
4 extra games .. & 60,000 is way up is it
NRL doing nicely ... VFL struggling

36 in 2012
so its less then 80,000 up ... not 116K
so its even worse
5 extra games ... & under 80,000 up
hows them maths for ya ...

My mistake. Seems the SCG Trust is providing compensation for lost revenue from gate receipts. All good.
The SCG Trust will compensate the Swans financially but the reduced ground capacity effects the club's ability to cater for new members and fans at a time when it is destined for on-field success through its great crop of young talent.

Bottoming out?
The total fans that have attended the AFL is already 100s of thousands of fans ahead of the nRL despite being 3 rounds behind!
With the suns and giants due to be decent sides in 4-5 years the crowds will only increase from here too.

So your answer is to keep loss making assets in order to not make a profit. Oh dear.

37 games down and the AFL crowd average is now above last years average at about 37000. Suprising what 1 extra game can do. As for the averages going down, this is how it works if you introduce 2 new teams whos stadia capacity is about 12000 less (metricon and skooda when it it finished) then the AFL average crowd, then the average crowd will go down. If the NRL added two new teams with with two new stadia with a max capacity of 10,000 then their crowd average would go down as well. On top of this two clubs are playing 6 or more games in tasmania (not sure exact numbers) in small stadia and with more games in Canberra as well. The AFL would average close to 50,000 a game with bigger stadia in Perth, Adelaide and two MCG sized grounds in Melbourne, however crowd sizes are limited by the small sizes of the grounds. This would be true for NRL as well to some extent.
