When over 8k shows up for a trial with half the teams containing reserve graders, it's a pretty good sign to me.

False advertising then.
"Come and see the best of NRL......blah blah blah."
I never heard mention of any second graders.
Doesn't auger well for the next game.

That's true but, Glory should be doing better with Sage's so-called money.
You have to wonder about a guy who buys a soccer club and the wants to buy a rl club.
You'd think he'd buy a football club because he's passionate about it.

Proposals for a Perth NRL have disaster written all over it now that Sage is inovlved. Please proceed NRL. :<>
Where the second licence should go isn't so clear cut, although it appears Perth is the front-runner.

But is Tony Sage the answer?

The cashed-up mining magnate met with NRL chief executive David Gallop yesterday, and while he is talking a good game there must surely be some reservations among the new commission.

Sage wants to follow in the footsteps of Nathan Tinkler at Newcastle and build a super-club across various codes.

He already owns the Perth Glory, although those in A-League circles describe him as "erratic" and "emotional".

Late last year, he received some abuse from Glory fans during a poor patch of form.

"I've never been abused that much since day one. It sort of makes up your mind. This will be my last season in charge of Perth Glory," Sage said after Perth's loss to Melbourne Heart late last year.

"I just can't sit there and cop abuse and my family cop abuse. No one is really interested in coming to Perth Glory games and the fans don't want me to be in control. It's very obvious A-League football in Perth is not warranted."

The next day, he backflipped - but not before giving a few officials at the FFA heart palpations.

If Sage is going to step into the rough-and-tumble world of rugby league, he will need a thicker skin - or at least be in better command of his emotions.

His bid has nothing to do with the hard-working people at the WA Rugby League

BS! In such a so-called "RL starved" city, they'd go and see anyone! If those starved fans existed that is.

yes starved ..but not for a reserve grade trial
a sellout on March 23rd ... for a real game ... will demonstrate a huge underswell of support for our games fulltime return to WA in 2015 .. whooo hoooo
