no

sponsors are trying to get them for a song

if they were in dire financial straits they'd of been forced to take anything they could get
they aren't
so they won't ..............well done to them =D> =D> =D>
Or alternatively sponsors know theyre worth little to nothing because they get poor crowds and little TV exposure.

well they're tryng to take advantage of the Raiders thats for sure ... but they hadn't bargained on a solid franchise with plenty in their kitty
so
the Raiders response

theres the door bucko ...... see ya

well done to them .... well done indeed =D> =D> =D>
I admire your optimism in the face of an impending disaster for Canberra's only NRL team. They don't have a sponsor for a reason, and it isn't a good one.

the only disaster in Aust sport in 2012
will be GWS

thats what they'll be

They'll struggle for sure. It will be interesting to watch. They won't be established and secure for 15 years I'd say. However it'll still be funny when they finally get more members and crowds than some NRL teams, like the raiders.

they'll never get established .. neither will the Thuns

look at the dough plowed into the Swans & Lions
it stopped about 10 years ago .. as the AFL thought they were both established & could fend for themselves

yet here we are in 2012
the Swans are broke .... the Lions in near insolvency

& I don't think the Thuns or GWS will be anywhere near as succesful as the previous 2 attempts at expansion in NSW & QLD

oh dear 8-[

So the swans are broke? What evidence have you got for this?

The lions almost insolvent? Evidence?

Both are doing significantly better in memberships and attendances than the NrLs only Australian expansion team, the storm.

they're not even trying to polish their stinking pile of butt vomit .... up to 7 Million lost in the last 3 years on their football operation ... & their cash reserves of 6 Million after they'd won their 3rd straight GF in 2003..... gone
wow .. what a clusterf.uck

AFL expansion ..........FAILED

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

The swans have made minor losses in comparison to their revenue. There is not a single "we are broke" comment in that article. Their sponsorship alone dwarfs most NRL clubs. Then theirs the constant revenue stream from memberships and a healthy attendance average.

The Lions are suffering the same fate as othe Brisbane sports because of economical woes of that part of the country. The wealthy AFL will sweep in and fix the entire issue in no time. 1.25b helps a bit you know. Plus our code doesn't rely almost entirely on this tv rights revenue because attendances and memberships make up so much of their overall revenue.

If you're waiting for these clubs to fall over you'll be a very unhappy chap.

a Billion dollar plus new TV deal .... says something different

NRL clubs have far smaller losses
the gap to plug is far smaller

AFL clubs are outta control with their expenditure ... some can't see their way out
imploding is the AFL

A billion dollar what? NRL won't get that!

The NRL clubs don't have the money going in, so the losses are far more devastating. AFL club turnover is a lot higher.

The AFL clubs spend what they think they can. Hence most of the profits or losses are small. The thing is a million dollar profit or loss for an AFL side is small because their revenue is so large. Especially when compared to the NRL clubs whose revenue is a drop in the ocean in comparison. A million dollar loss for them is a knock out blow.
