Go figure eh?enarelle wrote:The majority of the media, along with the people, is based in NSW/QLD/ACT that is print,TV and radio and the AFL crew thinks that would be focused on the AFL. Dream on gentleman -dream on.meh .. even SA'ers & WA'ers have had their fill
face it
you are a silly little sport .. confined to the Sthn corner of a small country ( population wise )
with no prospects of anymore growth
you've hit the ceiling .... expansion hit its peak about 5 years ago & is steadily declining & going backward .. certainly outside the heartland
even with hundreds of millions already spent & 2 new teams , nothing can hide the failure in the non traditional states ... if expansion had been a success ova the last 30 years ... the AFL would not of had to of compromised its own salary cap n draft rules & poached players off its main rival to help these new teams
if expansion in NSW & QLD had been a success .. they wouldn't have needed the amount of assistance they are getting ..with the dough spent .. they should have needed none![]()
but sadly they'll be sucking on the teet for a very very long time as a result of the failure to make any real inroads... a painful truth.
your comp was a lop sided abortion in 2011
seriously it was awful..... & it will get worse in 2012... with another easy beat team to join the 6 or 7 you already have
tanking
off field scandals ,all of this leading to declining crowds .... TV ratings ...etc
a failure to provide anything close to a succesful represenative program to offer your fans outside of this snorfest of a domestic comp
despite the ministery of falsehoods & lies claiming inroads overseas ..... it is a blip on the radar & will never be anything more then a game played by ex pats O/S for a bit of fun
my my
I'd hate to be in the AFL's shoes in the coming decades
meanwhile lets look at your main competitor .. the code that has not only halted your codes designs on national dominence ... but repelled it
the NRL![]()
only now coming out of the shadows of a bitter civil conflict
a new IC to run the game
crowds doubling in the last 25 years ... memberships increasing by 400% in the last 4 years ... the most watched sport on TV in the country & increasing its lead ova its nearest rival each year
expansion options all ova the place including internationally as well as non traditional areas of Aust
about to sign a TV deal more then double its present one
a wonderfully even comp .... seriously its a case of ... your team is a chance against anyone , most weeks
talent being developed like it was a factory through great development systems .... Harold Mathews cup , SG Ball Cup ... Meninga Cup .. Toyota Cup
the emergence of NZ , the youth coming out of that nation is amazing .. Kiwis are just lapping our great game up so much so that a 2nd kiwi side out of the Sth Island.. is a given within 10 years
wow
Rugby League .... the Australasian code of the next 20 years
nothing surer
need the AFL to play thereIntentcity wrote:Raiderdave wrote:if the demand was real.. they'd of built it 20 years agoIntentcity wrote:Is that why WC have a waiting list for memberships and the WA government is about to build a new 60k seat stadium? do you think they're building it in the hope the Reds come back?, remember pre 2000? build it and they will come
WA.. is supposed to be our wealthiest state isn't it ... why has it taken 30 years to get a decent ground
WA's AFL sides........... play in a hole & will for another 7 years![]()

Why did it take 100 years for Sydney to have a decent stadium? that was the NRLs fans excuse before ANZ was built, build it and they will come you'd say, well they built it, but nobody came lol, now you need the AFL to play there and you have to subsidise NRL clubs to play there, RL is a dying sport, tic toc tic toc.
cool story broXman wrote:Oh my!
The demand is growing!
Why the hell would a city of just over 1.5mil, or whatever they were 20 years ago, build a stadium for 70k?? WAFL games were big for their population but never warranted a stadium larger than the WACA or Subiaco.
Once they joined the AFL the crowds just grew!
Perth is a smaller city than Brisbane, yet they have 2 teams which average a combined 80k a fortnight! Yet Brisbane Broncos averaged only 33k a fortnight and are your leagues highest crowd drawer by a long way.
I'd leave this one alone, youre looking sillier than usual.
Xman wrote:Hmm maybe financing their own stadium seemed a better solution financially. Maybe the tittans could consider this
I did nt say they own it. They kicked in finances and arranged a suitable deal.Raiderdave wrote:Xman wrote:Hmm maybe financing their own stadium seemed a better solution financially. Maybe the tittans could consider this
financing their own stadium ?
who GWS ?
its owned by the NSW Govt .. Not GWS
they can't even use it during Easter ... as cows , horses & jumping poodles .... have priority![]()

you lot are the ones claiming WC have a 400 year waiting list for memberships .... not us
if there was demand you'd of thought they'd of built a bigger stadium .... earlier
they still haven't .. & won't for another 6 years
Sydney got its bigger venue 13 years ago
Brisbane got theirs 9 years ago
Perth is .. waiting ... ah ... still waiting ...![]()

why kick in anything
ANZ is next door .............. almost free of charge to play on
why not play there ?
Why do your clubs need subsidising to play there? and, why would WS who are going to draw sub 15k crowds for a while want or need to play at an 80k seat stadium? you make Taipan look smart.
And in Perth, Adelaide, Sydney, Launceston, Darwin, Brisbane, Cairns, Canberra and GC.Raiderdave wrote:the crowdswds are big in Melbourne
That's because we've nailed WA, SA, NT, Vic, Tas, Qld, GC, Sydney and soon WS.Raiderdave wrote:with no prospects of anymore growth
So you've conceded WS already ? =D>Raiderdave wrote:you've hit the ceiling ....
So two extra teams and one extra game per week is not expanding ?Raiderdave wrote:expansion hit its peak about 5 years
Rated as best in theworld per head of population .Raiderdave wrote:this snorfest of a domestic comp
Australian Football has come from just about nowhere to somewhere in just 20 years.Raiderdave wrote:despite the ministery of falsehoods & lies claiming inroads overseas .....
ah....did any games sellout In Perth or Adelaide last year ?And in Perth, Adelaide, Sydney, Launceston, Darwin, Brisbane, Cairns, Canberra and GC.![]()
so you agree .. thats it .. nowhere else to go .... & also failed pretty miserably in NSW & QLDThat's because we've nailed WA, SA, NT, Vic, Tas, Qld, GC, Sydney and soon WS.![]()
GWS will be the cherry on the cake of the failures already experiencedSo you've conceded WS already ?
dots on a map ... they'll add nothing to the popularity of AR ..it hit its peak 5 years ago wombatSo two extra teams and one extra game per week is not expanding ?![]()
thanks to one city on the planet ... a weird city full of weird people ... too stupid to realise how awful it actually has becomeRated as best in theworld per head of population .
AFL has gone from jsut about nowhere ... to just about nowhere in 20 years O/SAustralian Football has come from just about nowhere to somewhere in just 20 years.
Most of number gains are in the junior levels but mature competitions like the PNG and NZ are supplying players through
the AFL pathway
I must say that growth is still feasible. There is still room for AFL competition teams in Canberra, Tasmania and Darwin. A look at TLPG's website shows room to introduce the game to many centres in northern New South Wales and outback Queenslandcos789 wrote:That's because we've nailed WA, SA, NT, Vic, Tas, Qld, GC, Sydney and soon WS.Raiderdave wrote:with no prospects of anymore growth![]()
