GWS causing the demise of the Panthers or any of the western Sydney league teams in any period of time is up with the best of them. This is the same GWS who have found 3k in "locals" to buy a $50 membership. Are they following the Swans strategy on how to "destroy" rugby league in Sydney? If so it is incredibly devious as the Swans plan seems to be break the rugby league by increasing its juniors, attendances,TV ratings, merchandising etc When the next NRL TV deal doubles in size the Swans will feel so close to success they wont want to share it with GWS
Rugby league is destroying itself, enarelle. It is refusing to compete and it will cost them an NRL club presence in Sydney's west if they don't shape up. Three clubs in the west will become one as it will become clear to the fans of Penrith, Parramatta and West Tigers that they don't care about competition, and leave for good. What else do you do when your leaders are doing the wrong thing ie doing nothing? That is no myth. What is a myth is the assertion that the NRL will gain a TV deal as big as the AFL's.

Topper if you had a fact or two your statements might verge on an argument but without facts they are just more of this AFL wishful thinking that a sport that grows day by day is some how going to disappear. It is pure folly.

Enarelle, look at RL's reaction to GWS. It's contempt. They aren't taking it seriously, and if anyone does (like Phil Gould) they get ignored. It's out there and as plain as the nose on your face. THAT is pure folly, and if they don't turn it around they will lose supporters. Would you follow a club that doesn't take the competition seriously? The majority would not.

This is classic AFL arrogance in that they believe that they show up a 100 years+ down the track and think that suddenly there is competition and choice in the western Sydney region. Well this must be news to rugby league, rugby union, soccer and every other sport that is offered in this area and has been for decades.
Rugby League has been competing and winning support for the 100 years of its existence, coming in as the last of the football codes.
AFL is just another minor sport in an extremely crowded market.

AFL has something that the other sports don't have. Promotional clout and a big desire to succeed, and the money to make it happen.

Aww, I know it pains you lot to see the AFL grow from strength to strength in NSW/ACT and QLD.
We've already killed off the Gold Coast Titans after just one season. They are now on the verge of financial collapse and relocation to PNG.
Penrith Panthers are next.

the Swans are so embarrased they won't even release their membership numbers to date.
South Sydney have more members at the moment then these 3 AFL clubs in the " new" frontier of flogball ........... put together
you're winning nothing
